What is Affixes?

Affixes an word parts


that change the
meaning of a root or
base word.
Base word
is the main part of the
word.
Example: cook, teach
and possible.
Prefixes
and Suffixes are
both Affixes
Prefixes
are word parts that
comes at the beginning of
the root word.
Example: Uncooked
Uncooked
Cook is the base word,
while the “Un” at the
beginning of the word is
the Prefixes.
Suffixes
are word parts that
comes at the end of the
root word.
Example: Uncooked
Uncooked
the “ed” at the end of
this example is the
Suffixes.
Again the word
Un cook ed
cook is the base form
Un is the Prefix and
ed is the Suffix.
Another example:
The word “Impossible”
what is the Prefixe on this
given example? Very good,
the “Im” is the Prefixe in
this given example.
Another example:
The word “Teacher” what
is the suffix on this given
example? Very good, the
“er” is the suffixes in this
given example.
Again, prefixes and suffixes
are part of the Affixes.
Prefixes are the word that
comes at the beginning of the
root word. While, the Suffixes
are the word that comes at
the end of the root word.
