PSYCHOSOCIAL

ACTIVITY
AUGUST 25-26, 2020
OPENING SONG:
OPENING PRAYER:
God our Father, may everything we do
today begin with Your inspiration. We ask
for Your Presence to be with us as we meet
today. May we be aware of Your Lordship,
that we serve You, Your love and Your
children. Inspire our thoughts, discussions
and ideas as we seek to work together to
ensure that our school is Your school.
When we know your will, make us
determined to do it. Amen.”
GOSPEL ACCLAMATION:

MK 4:35-41 NIV
JESUS CALMS THE STORM

That day when evening came, he said to

his disciples, “Let us go over to the other
side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took
him along, just as he was, in the
boat. There were also other boats with
him. A furious squall came up, and the
waves broke over the boat, so that it was
nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern,
sleeping on a cushion.
The disciples woke him and said to him,
“Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
He got up, rebuked the wind and said to
the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind
died down and it was completely calm.
He said to his disciples, “Why are you so
afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
They were terrified and asked each other,
“Who is this? Even the wind and the waves
obey him!”
What is
PSYCHOSOCIAL
-It is a blended of two concepts:
“pysche” or the individual (the
me) and the “socio” (the
environment where I live)
-The reason we combine these
two words is because our lives
are about relationships.
PSYCHOSOCIAL ASSESSMENT
-This considers several key areas related
to psychological, biological, and social
functioning and the availability of
supports. It is a systematic inquiry that
arises from the introduction of
dynamic interaction; it is an ongoing
process that continues throughout a
treatment, and is characterized by the
circularity of cause-effect/effect-cause.
PSYCHOSOCIAL ASSESSMENT
Our objective is to help and keep
you engaged positively and
provide platforms to express your
emotions and understand your
concerns.
SHORT BACKGROUND
OF COVID-19
*Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) –
‘CO’ stands for corona, ‘VI’ for virus,
and ‘D’ for disease – is a disease caused
by a new strain of coronavirus first
identified in Wuhan, China.
*COVID-19 has been described as a
pandemic by the World Health
Organization.
What does that mean?

Characterizing COVID-19 as a
pandemic is not an indication
that the virus has become
deadlier. Rather, it’s an
acknowledgement of the
disease’s geographical spread.
*This pandemic called COVID19 has
forced most of us to be confined
inside our homes. There are a lot of
stories about what the current crisis
is uncovering about our society,
economy, and educational systems.
This is an opportunity to pause,
reflect, grieve, and decide how we
want to move forward.
As we have seen across the world in
multiple situations of crisis, the
young being the most vulnerable are
of ten the worst affected. To fight
Covid19, the country is under
lockdown to contain the spread of
the pandemic.

January 30 - The first case of the
disease was confirmed in the
Philippines, which is a 38-year old
Chinese woman.

February 2 – The first death from the

disease in the Philippines was
confirmed. This death is the first
confirmed death outside the Chinese
mainland.[3]
To date, we are now in the
163 days of quarantine.
What has this moment
revealed to you?
MEDITATION ACTIVITY
Mindful Minute:

1. The teacher is going to ring a bell 3X.

2. Close your eyes when he/she rings the
bell.
3. Breathe normally and listen closely to
the sound of the bell.
4. Open your eyes when you can no
longer hear the bell.
ACTIVITY 1
VIDEO
More than 300 million students worldwide
are having their education disrupted by
the spread of Coronavirus. Schools and
universities haven’t faced this level of
disruption in generations, but unlike any
time in the past, we, in the SVA have the
ability to continue education.
Learners, teachers and families are at the
heart of everything. We, the teachers are
committed helping you to have positive
learning experiences, whether online or
modular or in school.
We, the teachers have worked fast
to meet the demands of this
moment, but as we get a chance to
slow down and reflect, some lessons
are clear—like the primacy of
relationships. We are also saddened
to see our learners stay out of
school, scared and uncertain of when
to resume classes.
As a teacher, we encourage learners to
take heart and have hope that we shall
overcome. As teachers we encourage
our people to remain at home, minimize
movements and maintain social
distance. We stand in solidarity with our
learners, parents, stakeholders in
education and the entire world as we
fight this pandemic.
We acknowledge the heroic deeds of our
doctors and all caretakers for the
sacrifices they have had to make in
efforts to ensure everyone’s safety. We
pray to God that, even as we continue
to use science to combat this pandemic,
He may continue to guide us and protect
us. Let the entire world stand strong
and united against this pandemic.”
ACTIVITY 1: Animal Powered Mandalas

OBJECTIVE:

 to help calm the mind of the students

 and help calm the stress by engaging
in something that is solution oriented,
future focused, and is creative and
fun to engage in.
ACTIVITY 1: Animal Powered Mandalas

SIGNIFICANCE :
Using mandalas has a positive effect on our
well being because the brain responds with
changing the brain waves when focussing on
geometric shapes.They naturally relax,
soothe, structure and bring clarity. The
effect is meditation – like – allowing for focus
and at the same time for calming emotions
through slowing down thought processes.
ACTIVITY 1: Animal Powered Mandalas

SIGNIFICANCE:

Mandalas in their circular form have a very

hypnotic attraction that instantly captures
one’s attention and calms the mind. They
imitate flower – like shapes found in nature–
and we all know about the healing qualities
of spending time in natural surroundings
(which is related to the geometry present in
naturally occurring shapes).
DEER

Symbol:
Gentleness, Love
and Kindness
ACTIVITY 1: Animal Powered Mandalas
INPUT:
In general, the Deer symbolism is often a sign not
to be too hard on yourself. In other words, you
must calm the voice of the self-critic and treat
yourself with gentleness and understanding.
Thus, the Deer meaning prompts you to be
yourself and continue along your path. Moreover,
seek out your inner treasures and use them
generously to help those around you. This spirit
animal also teaches that you must trust that
kindness and graciousness will be well received.
ACTIVITY 1: Animal Powered Mandalas
INPUT:

Deer symbolism is a reminder

that we cannot push towards
change in others. Instead, we
gently nudge them in the right
direction with love and
understanding. Therefore, the
deer meaning prompts us to
lead by doing and showing the
way.
ACTIVITY 1: Animal Powered Mandalas
INPUT:
This creature is also a
messenger of serenity, can
see between shadows and
hear unsaid words. Thus, the
Deer symbolism teaches us to
maintain our innocence and
gentleness so that we can
share our open-
heartedness with others.
ACTIVITY 1: Animal Powered Mandalas

SIGNIFICANCE:

Mandalas and deer combination open the door

for working on mental and emotional levels
simultaneously while also accessing the
subconscious and restoring harmony within.
ACTIVITY 2: My Wellbeing Plan

OBJECTIVE:

 The students can focus on creating

short-term goals.
 They can identify their set of worries
in present and what they are
grateful for even times when things
apparently seem out of control.
ACTIVITY 2: My Wellbeing Plan

A. CONNECT AND CREATE - Social

relationships are critical for promoting
wellbeing.

 Example: Check in with loved ones

through phone calls, texts, video calls,
handwritten letters (which can be
emailed in times of quarantine), etc.
ACTIVITY 2: My Wellbeing Plan

B. SELF-CARE- Regular physical activity

is associated with lower rates of
depression and anxiety across all age
groups. .
 Example: Take stairs instead of lifts
(also lesser risk of contagion),do yoga
or simple exercises at home
ACTIVITY 2: My Wellbeing Plan
C. SELF AWARENESS – Become self
aware, both internally and externally.

 Example: Notice if your tone of speech or

actions hurts someone or if someone’s
speech hurts you. Being aware of what is
taking place in the present directly
enhances your well-being and savouring
‘the moment’ can help to reaffirm your life
priorities especially in times of home stays.
ACTIVITY 2: My Wellbeing Plan
C. SELF AWARENESS – Become self aware,
both internally and externally.

 Example: Try and recognize your needs

and feelings. Allow yourself to feel an
emotion and remember the well being
mantra: “It’s okay to fail, it’s ok to feel.”
ACTIVITY 2: My Wellbeing Plan

C. GIVE – It is better to give than to

receive.
 Create a gratitude jar at home. Wherever
you place the box, make sure to leave small
slips of paper or sticky notes nearby. You can
use the box to write down positive messages,
thank-you notes, or messages of appreciation
or encouragement to your fellow peers or
teacher, your parents, grandparents or anyone
you wish to thank and appreciate.
ORATIO IMPERATA on the threat
from Covid-19
God our Father, we come to you in our
need to ask your protection against the
COVID 19 that has disturbed and even
claimed lives. We pray that you guide
the people tasked to find cures for this
disease and to stem its transmission.
Protect the medical experts that they
may minister to the sick with
competence and compassion.
ORATIO IMPERATA on the threat
from Covid-19
We pray for those afflicted. May they be
restored to health soon. Protect those
who care for them. Grant eternal rest to
those who have died. Give us the grace
in this trying time to work for the good
of all and to help those in need. We
implore you to stop the spread of this
virus and to save us from our fears.
ORATIO IMPERATA on the threat
from Covid-19
Grant all these through our Lord Jesus
Christ your Son who lives and reigns with
you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one
God, forever and ever.
We fly to Your protection, oh Holy
Mother of God. Do not despise our
petition in our necessities, but deliver us
always from all dangers, Oh glorious and
blessed Virgin. Amen. Our Lady, health
of the sick, pray for us.
