 AIM
To reduce the time required for 2D
DRAFTING by automating the drawing
procedure using the tools provided by
SOLIDWORKS.
 PROCEDURE

STEP 1: Open the SOLIDWORKS

Task Scheduler program.
STEP 2: In the Task Scheduler Menu,
click on the create drawings option.
STEP 3: In the create drawings program, select Browse and input
the required template(SYNAPSE A4, A3 ,etc.) from the location in
which the templates are present. The location is as follows:
STEP 4: Now, select the Add file option and enter all the part files
that you want to have the drawings taken for.
STEP 5: Once the files have been added, select the time and date
for the task scheduler to run the program. If needed immediately
then just click finish to run the program.
STEP 6: Once the program is run, the files are saved as drawing
files for the selected parts. The drawing files are opened and the
required views are present as per the selected template as shown
below.
STEP 7: Now, in the drawing window, click on the Annotation Toolbar and select Model
Items. In the Model Items Property Manager, go to Source/Destination and select “Entire
Model”.Under dimensions, select all the required dimensions including Hole callout,
Tolerance,etc. Similarly, select the required options in annotations and reference
geometry as needed.
STEP 8: Now click OK. Once the command is run the required
dimensions for your drawing file will be automatically given. The
dimensions will not be arranged clearly or spaced properly.
 STEP 9: To arrange the dimensions properly, click and hold the left mouse button,
then drag the mouse cursor across the dimensions present in the drawing and release.
There you will see the icon. Now move your cursor towards the icon and the
pop up box given below will appear.
• STEP 10: Now move the cursor towards the pop up box and select the auto arrange
dimensions icon circled in red, in the image below.

• This will auto arrange the dimensions and produce the required drawing output with
dimensions spaced properly.
 CONCLUSION
By following the steps in the procedure given
before, the drawing process can be automated
to a degree and time can saved.
