The strategy reflects not only the importance given to education development
and education cooperation by APEC member economies, but also the
increasingly important role of education in economic growth and integration
across the region. It is based on the following three pillars:
• Enhancing and aligning competencies to the needs of individuals,
societies and economies
• Accelerating innovation
• Increasing employability
APEC Steps Up Promotion of Cross-Border Privacy Rules

APEC economies, data privacy regulators, and other stakeholders are


exploring ways to bolster the Cross-Border Privacy Rules (CBPR) system.
Endorsed by APEC leaders in 2011, the CBPR system establishes enforceable,
binding commitments to safeguard consumers’ personal information and foster
growth of the digital economy.
 APEC SME Ministers Commit to Inclusion Through
Digital Transformation
Ministers in charge of small and medium enterprise (SME) policy APEC
economies convened, to talk about one of the most underrepresented but vital
business sectors of the Asia-Pacific region.

The focus of their discussion: the digitization, internationalization and


access to financing for small businesses, as well as their potential as one of
the most effective ways to empower women and integrate them into the
global economy
