objectives
 To provide a safe and welcoming environment for
students to learn and grow .

education in order for them to
learn and demonstrate.
To let them cooperate and
collaborate.
introduction
⬗ A philosophy of music education refers to the
value of music, the value of teaching music,
and how to practically utilize those values in
the music classroom.
⬗ Bennet Reimer, music education philosopher,
wrote the following, : “To the degree we can
present a convincing explanation of the nature
of the art of music and the value of music in
the lives of people, to that degree we can
present a convincing picture of the nature of
music education and its value for human life.”

⬗ What should be taught and learnt at school?
⬗ What is taught and learnt out of school?
⬗ How much attention should be paid to
instrumental tuition?
⬗ How much of music is self-taught rather
than learnt from others?
⬗ What are the modern-day roles of
conservatoires, universities, and community
organizations in music learning?

Facet of music
This article (org/paper/Facets-of-experience) investigates
music experience using interview data in an encounter with
Frede V. Nielsen’s model and theory on a multifaceted
universe of musical meaning.
⬗ The research says that most cultures carry an idea of music
being connected to emotion.
⬗ The article reveals implications for early childhood
learning cultures in pointing towards the importance of
the relationship between caregiver and child, and of music
as a mediating tool for emotion availability and interaction.
Facet of music
⬗ Facet- one side of something, surface, side, feature, dimension
⬗ Multifaceted- having many facets
⬗ Music has standards too.
⬗ Small parts within a performance are referred to
throughout this text as facets.
⬗ Facets may be a rhythmic ostinato, a layer of sound or
rhythm, the role played by an individual or group within
the performance, and so on.
THE 5 FACETS OF
PERFORMANCE
PREPARATION
1. ARTISTIC
⬗ To be artistically prepared for
performances, we have to choose music that fits our
style and level of ability and then learn it so deeply that
we can deliver every phrase with conviction.
2. TECHNICAL
⬗ When were technically prepared, were in command
of our instruments, even in high pressure settings.
And also well-versed in the intricacies of
performance venues, such as lightnings and sound
systems.
3. MENTAL/EMOTIONAL
⬗ We perform best when
were mentally focused and
emotionally engaged.
4. PHYSICAL
⬗ Performance takes strength. Ahead
of an event, we need to manage our
activities such that were fresh when
the stage door opens.
5. ORGANIZATIONAL
⬗ Poor planning rattles countless young
performers- they get lost when
travelling to venues, bring the wrong
clothes, or forget spares strings or
parts. Prudent organization, on the
other hand, ensures that we arrive
early and fully equipped for every gig.

SUMMARY:
The aim of this article is to outline a psychological
approach to expression in music performance that
could help to provide a solid foundation for the
teaching of expressive skills in music education.
Drawing on previous research, the author suggests
that performance expression is best conceptualized
as a multi-dimensional phenomenon consisting of five
primary components:
(a) Generative rules that function to clarify the
musical structure;
(b) Emotional expression that serves to convey
15 intended emotions to listeners;
SUMMARY:
(c) Random variations that reflect human limitations
with regard to internal time-keeper variance and motor
delays;
(d) Motion principles that prescribe that some aspects of
the performance (e.g. timing) should be shaped in
accordance with patterns of biological motion; and
(e) Stylistic unexpectedness that involves local deviations
from performance conventions. An analysis of
performance
expression in terms of these five components –
collectively referred to as the GERMS model - has

Significance:
Music is an important facet across all developmental areas – it can be linked
directly to language, cognitive, physical, social and emotional development
therefore it is an extremely important activity to offer in our program.
Creativity: Music opens new horizons of the mind and supports wonderment,
imagination, appreciation, and sensitivity. Communication: Music is a
language beyond words.
Music can only be explained with music because of its
various styles, textures, tempos, and dynamics. It
can elicit an emotion. Music truly stirs the soul of
people. No words or visual display can come
close to the emotional impact of music.

17
Significance:
Creativity is the source of possibility and is a mental muscle that must be
trained and exercised often.
We aim to offer music and movement experiences that will enhance the
development, sense
of enjoyment and positive self-esteem of all the children in our care.
Implementation
Music and movement experiences are an important element of the early
childhood
environment. They play an integral role in all areas of
development. Music and movement activities need
to be planned and relevant to the children’s
developmental stage.
