begins with identifying customers, both external and


internal, determining their needs and developing
product features that respond to customer needs.
QUALITY IMPROVEMENT

- there are four different strategies to improvement that could be applied


during this phase:
 Repair: REACTIVE; fix what’s broken.
 Refinement: PROACTIVE; continually improve a process that isn’t
broken
 Renovation: Improvement through innovation or technological
advancement.
 Reinvention: Most demanding approach; start over with a clean slate
QUALITY CONTROL

involves determining what to control, establishing units of


measurement so that data may be objectively evaluated,
establishing standards of performance, measuring actual
performance, interpreting the difference between actual
performance and the standard and taking action on the
