WATER CONSUMPTION AUDIT

QUANTITY OF WATER BEING USED (PER YEAR)=TOTAL STRENGTH X AMOUNT OF

WATER CONSUMED FOR EACH USE
TOTAL STRENGTH= STAFF 300, VISITORS 100
DOMESTIC USAGE PER DAY = 300 X 25
FLUSHING WATER REQUIREMNTS = 300 X 20
FOR VISITORS, 15 LITERS PER HEAD PER YEAR = 100 X 15 X 365= 1368750 LITERS
PER HEAD PER DAY
TOTAL CONSUMPTION = 13500 LITERS PER HEAD PER DAY
ANNUAL CONSUMPTION = 49,27,500 LITERS PER HEAD PER YEAR

WASTE WATER TREATMENT
▪ Waterloo Bio Filter-onsite Wastewater Treatment

Root Zone Wastewater

Treatment (RZWT)
Both grey water and black water
can be suitably treated by root
zone wastewater treatment and
reused for non-potable
applications such as toilet
flushing and gardening.
Root Zone Wastewater Treatment
(RZWT) is the most innovative
and eco-friendly system..
• Minimal need for external
energy
• Using gravity instead of Grey water is slightly soiled water that accumulates in every
pumps, avoiding valves household from the, bathtub, sink, and washing machine.
• Zero maintenance The resulting service water is hygienically safe and suitable
• Low operating costs for toilet flushing, garden irrigation, cooling towers of HVAC
system, and for commercial applications.
WATER MANAGEMENT
WATER USE REDUCTION
▪ Low flow plumbing fixtures and tech in low flow faucets

▪ Vacuum toilets-vacuum pumps

▪ Water efficient urinals -2.8l/flush
▪ Install sub meter to monitor water usage
▪ Irrigation-rain sensors and soil moisture sensors
▪ Dual piping system-recycled water and potable water
▪ Increase water efficiency -plumbing fixture replacement
O Lower flow rate fixtures
O dual flush valves on water closets
O greywater in toilets, irrigation etc Waterless urinals can save
up to 5000 gallons of water
per year
REDUCE WATER USAGE DURING
CONSTRUCTION
▪ Concrete mixed with fly ash needs 1-10% less water
▪ Ponding curing method
▪ Use of chemical admixtures (acts as accelerators)
-High range water reducers
Super plasticizers
LANDSCAPE
▪ Mulch : layer of material applied on soil to conserve
moisture,
Reduce weed growth, increase soil health.
Organic: bark, wood chippings, leaves, nutshells etc.
Inorganic: gravel, slate, pebbles etc.
▪ Paving-pervious concrete-contains little to no fine
aggregates increases
Water table level.
• XERISCAPING
Landscaping and gardening that reduces or eliminate the need
for supplemental water from irrigation .

WASTE MANAGEMENT
WASTE AUDIT
WASTE CREATED ANNUALLY = 1 X 300 X 365 = 109500 KG/YEAR
Waste produced in the office can be used within the site for environmental reasons
Paper can be reused by using a recycling receptacle
WASTE MANAGEMENT • Biogas
• Composting
 Ensure proper segregation of wastes at source • Segregation
through multi-colored bins. (post occupancy) • Recycling

• REJECT WASTE/
• DRY/RECYCLABLE WASTE :
SANITARY WASTE :
Plastic Sanitary napkins/Diapers
Paper can be collected separately
Production waste and sent to KSPCB
Foam authorized vendors who
Metal wood/glass handle sanitary waste.

• E-WASTE : • ORGANIC WASTE :

(should be handed over to KSPCB Wet waste garden waste
authorized E-waste vendor/ Composting
recycler/dismantler.) Biogas
Discarded computers & accessories
Other electronic waste
Hazardous waste: batteries bulbs and
tubes

• ANTHROPONICS
• The first step is to collect the urine through a
particular urinal which is connected to a closed
pipe network.
• The collected urine is transported to a biofilter
where enzymes and naturally occurring bacteria
sterilise the urine, and convert the urea and
ammonia to nitrates.
• The nutrients from the filter is pumped to where
plants absorb nutrients from the converted urine
A person can produce the nutritional equivalent up
to 3kg of lettuce.
