Concept

 Reverse logistics is for all operations related to the reuse of products and
materials.

 It is “the process of moving goods from their typical final destination for the
purpose of capturing value, or proper disposal.

 It focuses on how the product should properly disposed of after use.

 It directly impact supply chain.

Background of Coca-Cola

 Khetan Group imported Coca-Cola from India, was first introduced into
Nepal in 1973, with local production of Coca-Cola beginning in 1979.
 Bottlers Nepal Limited is the only bottler of Coca-Cola products in Nepal
and has 2 plants in Balaju, Kathmandu and Chitwan, Bharatpur.

 The Coca Cola company strives to refresh the world, inspire moments of
optimum, and create value and make a difference.

 Within 10 years, supported by a 25% turnover and spend, Coca-Cola was


America’s single most advertised and best known product.

 Coca-Cola has launched a new campaign called “World without Waste”
to collect & recycle coke’s plastic bottles annually 160 billion.
To make “World without Waste” effort succeed by three (3) programs:
 Develop more efficient packaging.
 Work with local recycling programs & companies.
 Educate consumers.
 The Company made a hit by announcing a new plastic soda bottle made
of 30% from sugarcane & molasses based materials which 100%

Reverse Logistics activities conducted
 The potential locations for Coke bottles consumption and collection outside
of the Kathmandu Valley were identified as Dhangadi, Biratnagar,
Narayanghat.Nepalgunj, Brj, Pkr, Butwal, Manakamana, Munglin, Namche,
Lukla, Nagarkot, Nayapul, & Chisapani (Karnali)
 Waste Coke Bottles’ Market information:
 There has been an increased in the supply of waste Coke bottles through the
last three years at the rate of 5.1% per annum.
 The average price of waste Coke bottles was NRs. 25/kg. The price ranged
from Nrs. 10 to NRs. 50 per kg.
