Introduction
6

 Computer Network Design is a category of systems design that deals

with data transport mechanisms. Network design consists of two
stages:
 Analysis Stage (requirements are generated)
 Implementation Stage (system is constructed)

 The goal of network design is to satisfy data communication

requirements while minimizing expense.
Data Communication Requirements
7

 Data communication requirements can vary widely from one network

design project to another based on geographic particularities and the
nature of the data requiring transport.

 Geographic Particularities
 Data Requiring Transport
Implementation
8

 In this stage the whole system is constructed in a way that the

generated data from one source reaches the destination with ease and
speed.

 We will learn more about this stage in the next lectures…

 Here are some icons and symbols provided by Cisco which we will
use later in this course for the demonstration purposes.
Data Network
10

 A computer network or data network is a communication network

which allows computers to exchange data.
 Or
 Transmission of data from one point to another point is called Data
Network.

13

 As we have discussed about different types of data in previous slide,

networks today are getting more complex.
 Starting just from sharing data between just two Computer to
Network intelligence.
 Intelligent Information Network is a term used to describe an
intelligence network.
 See you in the next lecture…
