ABSTRACT
Present life of the people is running with unavoidable frequent
power cuts of about three hours per day and which is hardly
controlled by wealthiest using electrical power generators and
not by middle class people. In order to overcome this problem
by the middle class and below average people, the project
Bicycle Pedaling concept is employed to develop an electrical
power which can be useful especially at the time of power
cuts.

INTRODUCTION

The Bicycle Pedaling converts the Mechanical energy into

Electrical energy through manually. In this project a pedal
which is attached to the cycle can be operated and that
mechanical energy is converted into electrical energy by the
rotation of Dynamo which is connected to the wheel of the
cycle. So, by this rotation the power generated is stored in a
battery and can be use for the DC supplied accessories
(phones, iPods) etc. And for use of A.C supply we use
inventor. The inverter is connected with the battery which
covert D.C current to A.C current. Then it is used for A.C
accessories at limited voltage.
WORKING PRINCIPLE
Principle of Dynamo An electrical generator is a device that converts
mechanical energy to electrical energy, generally using
electromagnetic induction. A dynamo machine consists of a
stationary structure which generates a strong magnetic field, and a
set of rotating windings which turn within that field. On small
machines the magnetic field may be provided by a permanent
magnet; larger machines have the magnetic field created by
electromagnets. The energy conversion in generator is based on the
principle of the production of dynamically induced emf. Whenever a
conductor cuts magnetic flux, dynamically induced emf is produced
in it according to Faraday's Laws of Electromagnetic induction.
MAIN COMPONENTS
a) Dynamo
b) Diode
c) Lithium-ion battery
d) Inverter circuit
DYNAMO
Dynamo can electric generator. It produces direct current
by converting mechanical energy into electrical energy. It
consists of a strong electromagnet between the poles of
which is rotated an armature, consisting of a number of
coils suitably wound. It is based on the principle of
electromagnetic induction.
DIODE
A Diode is an electrical component that’s main function
is to allow an electric current pass one way, know as the
diode’s forward direction. While also blocking a current
from the opposite direction, known as the reverse
direction. Typically a two-terminal design.
LITHIUM-ION BATTERY
A lithium-ion battery or Li-ion battery is a type of
rechargeable battery in which lithium ions move from the
negative electrode through an electrolyte to the positive
electrode during discharge, and back when charging.
INVERTER CIRCUIT
An inverter is an electric apparatus that changes direct
current (DC) to alternating current (AC). From this
process, AC electric power is produced. This form of
electricity can be used to power an electric light, a
microwave oven, or some other electric machine. An
inverter usually also increases the voltage.
ADVANTAGES
 No operating cost- it requires only mechanical
work so free of any operating cost.
 Economical- it is free source of electricity, thought it
require some mechanical work which can be done in any
leisure time so it is economical.
 Health improving- Cycling makes one to be fit and
healthy.
 Eco-friendly- Doesn’t emit any kind of harmful
substances so it is eco friendly.
 Very low maintenance -No need of maintenance as
devices are very cheap.
DISADVANTAGES

 Frictional losses:-The frictional losses occur because

of frictional between motor wheel & cycle wheel.
 High speed disadvantage
APPLICATIONS
 Since the Pedal operated cell phone charger is more
efficient it is used for mobile charger.
 All mobile charging applications.
CONCLUSION
 In conclusion, this project was designed to serve as a
model/prototype to meet specific need in our locality. The
device can also serve as an alternative power source in
extreme case scenario even in urban centers. Since the
device is manually operated, it can be used in areas where
there is no power supply and would always be readily
available.
 The device is environmentally friendly as it produces no
waste in the process of its operation, and the device work
with little or no noise. The system proved efficient since
even with a minimum pedaling speed, the system produced
enough voltage required to charge the battery in order for
the system to be usable by almost anybody at anytime.
