1944
German airship Hindenburg exploded at Lakehurst,
New jersey.
The whole airship turned into ashes within 34 seconds
resulting in 35 out of 97 aboard death.
The disaster was the first massive technological
disaster caught on film
6 MAY 1937 The cause was due to a leak in fuel cell causing
(HINDENBURG hydrogen to leak and mix with oxygen causing a
INCIDENT) massive fire.
What was uncertain is that how the hydrogen manage
to leak.
There is also a theory that it may be caused by
electrostatic force. During flight it would have charged
positively and as the landing lines touched the ground it
was negatively charged.
The incident made people afraid to fly in
hydrogen powered airships which ended the
airship era.

As the Hindenburg was a German made and

as Hitler was gaining more power so no one
6 MAY 1937 wanted to fly in a Nazi ship.
(HINDENBURG AFTERMA
TH
INCIDENT) American German companies initially had
plans to build more airship but this incident
made them cancel all their plans.

Even though this incident is said to be the end

of airship era but if the incident did not
happen the airship era would have still ended
due to technological advancements.
