1. TYPES OF APARTMENT.
An apartment , flat or unit is a self-contained housing
unit that occupies only part of a building, generally on a
single storey. They are of different types:
i. Garden apartment
ii. Studio apartment
iii. Basement apartment
iv. Convertible apartment
v. Loft apartment
1. Garden Apartment: A garden apartment has access to a
backyard and almost always is on the ground floor, but sometimes can
also be on the basement level. Garden apartments can also be
problematic for security reasons, and they tend to have more pests.
2. Studio Apartment : A one-room apartment that comes
with a kitchen and a full-size bathroom. Variations of a studio
include an alcove studio or a convertible studio.
3. Basement Apartment: This types of apartment are
generally on the lowest floor of the building .
4. Convertible Apartment: An apartment featuring a space enough to be walled off and used as dinning area or bed
room . For example, a convertible two bedroom is a place that already has a large bedroom as well as an area that could be walled
off create a second bedroom .
5. Loft Apartment : One large room , usually located in a building
that was a converted from commercial to residential , with really
high ceilings and windows . A loft can present with anything
from studio to three bedrooms , although this is usually specified
at the outset .

Architect: Sanjay Puri
Location : Ranchi, Jharkhand, India
Category: Apartments
Area: 80000.0 m2
Project year: 2017
• ISHATVAM Situated in
Ranchi, a city in East
India, Ishatvam 9 is a
residential building on a
small plot of 1800 sqm.
Most of the plot frontage
along the main road is
occupied by an existing
petrol pump leaving just a
driveway for access with a
square shaped space
beyond which is buildable
upon.
• Most of this city has existed
with low rise development
over the last few decades.
However, the last few years
have witnessed rapid
urbanization and in
response to this the
governing rules which
earlier allowed buildings of
only 15m height and a
buildable area equivalent to
the plot size have been
changed to allow 50m
height as well as a buildable
area 3 times the plot size.
