India’s Harnaaz Sandhu has brought Miss Universe 2021 crown home back
after 21 years. She was declared Miss Universe 2021 at the 70th edition of
Miss Universes conducted in Eliat, Israel. After Lara Dutta was crowned as Miss
Universe in 2000, Harnaaz Sandhu won the title. She was crowned by Andrea
Meza, who was last year’s winner, while Miss Paraguay Nadia Ferreira and
Miss South Africa Lalela Mswane were announced the first and second runners
up respectively.

Who is Harnaaz Sandhu?

Harnaaz Sandhu is from India, and she was born on 3 March 2000 in
Chandigarh, Punjab. Harnaaz works as model and Indian actress.
She did her schooling from Shivalik Public School, and then she moved to the
Government College for Girls.
 Harnaaz Sandhu age is 21 (as of 2021).
 Her achievements are: Femina Miss India Punjab 2019, Miss Diva 2021,
and Miss Universe.
 In 2021, she featured in the Punjabi movies “Bai Ji Kuttange” and “Yaara
Diyan Poo Baran.”
 On 30 September 2021, she fought against 19 other contestants for Miss
Diva 2021 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Mumbai.
 At the age of 17 she started competing in pageantry and has won the title
of Miss Chandigarh 2017 and Miss Max Emerging Star India 2018.
 Now Harnaaz will stay in New York to participate in various events
globally.

Harnaaz Sandhu has been a part of various pageants that can be among other
reasons for her victory. Harnaaz has beaten 79 contestants from other
countries and clinched the title of Miss Universe 2021.

Harnaaz Sandhu’s mother Ravinder Kaur said during an interview that she will
treat her with Makki ki roti and sarson da saag when she returns home.
On the other hand, Harnaaz’s brother Harnoor expressed his feelings that
this is a proud moment for them. He further added that Harnaaz is
focused, and she wanted to clinch this title since her schools days.

In the last round, she chose the ‘Global Warming and Climate Change’ topic and
replied that everyone has to undo whatever they did to the environment to save
the environment. She further added that earth is common to all and she said

themselves because everyone is a leader of their life. She said that she believes
in herself that makes her able to stand there.

Harnaaz did Great on the Ramp

The preliminary competition had two rounds – swimwear and evening gowns. All
participants did their best on the ramp in both rounds. Harnaaz was in maroon
monokini for the swimwear round. For the evening gown round, she astonished
everyone in a gold and shiny trail gown with a front slit. Pankaj and Nidhi
designed her outfit.

For the National Costumes round, she wore a pink lehenga with an umbrella that
was covered with mirror work and the lehenga was designed by Abhinav Mishra.
This royal outfit represents women in India. She dedicated her performance to
all strong women who face challenges every day.

Priyanka Chopra’s Reaction after Harnaaz Won Miss Universe Title

Harnaaz said that she loves Priyanka Chopra and the media also asked a
question to Priyanka when Harnaaz won the title. In 2000, Priyanka won the title
of Miss World, and she said that she was very excited to see Harnaaz wearing
the crown of Miss Universe. She said the last time Lara Dutta brought the title
was in the year 2000, and now after 21 years, Harnaaz has brought the crown
