A document created and used by a person to
present their background, skills, experiences and
accomplishments.
▫ Paints a positive and factual picture of YOU
▫ Guides the interviewer in what to ask

Types Of a Resume
▫ 1. Chronological Resume – it’s key components is your
identification, job objective, accomplishments, education,
experiences, interests and references
▫ 2. Functional Resume – it should include personal details
like name and address,objective describing position you seek,
profile giving summary of your talents and experience,
education details and training undergone and lastly awards
and recognition received.

▫ 3. Curriculum Vitae – provides an overview of a person’s
experience and other qualifications. It is typically used to
screen applicants often followed by an interview.It is an
outline of a person’s educational history.

which will manage your resume and make it visible to employers

Steps to a Good Resume
▫ Choose a job target ( also called a job objective)
▫ Find out what skills, knowledge, and experiences are needed
to do that target job
▫ Make a list of your training and education that is related to the
job
▫ List your most recent job first then your earlier jobs
▫ If you are currently unemployed it would help a lot to find an
immediate short term opportunity to get some unpaid

▫ volunteer work experience, preferably in your line of
work, and put that on your resume.This will look better
than being unemployed. Don’t use the word “volunteer”.
Rename the category “Work History”.

REMINDERS
▫ Proofread for grammar and punctuation.
▫ Check the spelling
▫ Get feedback from someone experienced.

▫ Always remember an effective resume should be concise,


brief and well constructed
