Introduction
Generally, the northern part
of India experiences this
type of climate.
Most cold and cloudy
regions are situated at high
altitudes.
Shimla, Shillong, Srinagar
and Mahabaleshwar are
examples of places
belonging to this climatic
zone.
These are generally highland
regions having abundant
vegetation in summer.
Relative humidity
The relative humidity is
generally high and
ranges from 70%-80%.
Heat Gain is low in
winter with a high
percentage of diffuse
radiation. Hence,
winters are extremely
cold.

The wind direction is defined
as the direction the wind is
coming from. The wind
direction is reported to 8
compass points – N, NE, E, SE,
SW, W, N.

in a particular area is called
wind speed. The speed of that
wind can be measured using a
tool called anemometer.
This climate experiences cold
winds in the winter season.
