Today ill be discussing one

risk that is prone in a certain area.
 FLOODS
• FLOODS -it is a natural castatrophe causes of heavy
rain and typhoon and it is very common in a low land
area and near to creak, bridges that are not fix yet by
the goverment, which indicate that some of the villagers
are experiencing that kind of risk when there is a
typhoon or a continues rain that can emerge rapidly and
i find it alarming and dangerous when it occurs, it may
affect also the improper waste disposal of waste that
cause clogging of drainage...

• Origin of the story- from the RESIDENTS of the said area.
• Colorado is a small baranggay of San Guillermo, they are quite known for
their sweet pineapple and a three time champion in festival dances, two time
defending champion of booth contest and largest fruits. theire total population
are 2,000 households by the yaer 2019 and it is increasing for the past years.
• Based on the report of MDRRM 15 households are affected by the floods.
• Floods are the main problems of the villegers according to some statements.

• Q1:What type of disaster commonly occur in
our community?
Well onething that is common disaster that almost
occur in low land areas is floods.
• Q2: How often does it occur? What’s the worst
case in that the community has ever faced?
How long does it take for the community to go
back on track after a certain disaster?
When there is storm, typhoon and heavy rain thats
the time that this kind os risk can occur.
The worst scenarion that happend when the water
from the brigde rised up to the second floor of the
house and it took 5 to 7 days before it go back to
the normal level of the water and thats the right
time go back on track.
• Whenever something like this happens, what
are the necessary protocols that you follow?
If anything happened like floods and any natural
castastrophe the barangay will give instructions on
what to do if they need to move in evacuation area
to ensure safetiness othe residents.
• Does the barangay have sufficient resources
and supply kits which can be utilize incase of
emergency?
Well the local goverment unit ensures that all the
barangays that has a high risk of disaster has
enough kits and resources if any of these aoccurs
at no time.
 Do we have evacuation teams or rescue teams in the barangay? Does the barangay have certain
facilities and equipment that can be utilized during rescue operations?
LGU’s and MDRRM are conducting some seminars workshop on what to do when time calls like this and
participants are barangay officials and other villagers to perceived prior knowledge.
• ARE YOU AWARE OF RISK REDUCTION MANAGEMENT?
Well for me it is a must that everyone should know about RRM because it really helps the community, if all of
us know the worth of having prior knowledge on RRM and we can use it when there is a disaster.
• DO WE HAVE PRE-EXISTING IN CASE OF EMERGENCY KITS IN THE HOUSE?
to be honest having a emergency kits in the house is prerequisit if anything happen then you can use it as a
first aid.
• HOW OFTEN DO YOU PREPARE SUPPLIES SUCH AS FOOD, FIRTS AID KITS,CLOTHES,BEDDINGS
ec.FOR EMERGENCY PURPOSES?
Preparing or storing the basic needs are essential in times of disaster, it helps the family to survive when
there is risk that occur in no time,
• HYPOTHETICALLY, IF A DISASTER HITS THE COMMUNITY RIGHT NOW, HOW PREPARED WOULD
OUR FAMILY WOULD BE?
Well if all of us in the family has the basic knowledge on how to survive when there are disaster that occur
righ now the survival rate would be high due to the prior knowledge, and by the listening to our barangay
officials is a huge factor also in surviving a disaster. And it is a must also to know your safety map where it
locates the evcuation area and the ssafe places near you.
• FROM YOUR PREVIOUS EXPERIENCES, WHAT CERTAIN THINGS YOU’VE LEARNED IN TERMS OF
DISASTER PREPAREDNESS?
The goal of disaster preparedness is to lessen the impact of disasters on vulnerable populations, to ready an
organization for an influx of activity, and to design a coordinated plan that reduces the waste of resources,
time, and efforts.
