Magandang umaga po sa lahat ng kabataan na naririto.

All of us are aware

about the disasters that could happen in our barangay and I am right here in front to
give a little bit of knowledge to my fellow teenagers about disaster mitigation. It is our
responsibility as a youth to safeguard ourselves, our families, and anyone we know.
Natural disasters are uncontrollable by humans when they occur but we can
prevent it. Prevention is always better than cure, as we all know. In other words,
whenever a disaster strikes that threatens to disrupt life and the environment, we need
to take immediate action to save and protect lives. Natural disasters can occur
anywhere at any time because they are unpredictable. So, we must first determine the
types of disasters that could occur in our barangay in order to fully comprehend disaster
mitigation.

1 thing that we can do as teenagers is planting vegetation like trees, shrubs and
different kind of plants for a better scenery, plus they play a bigger role in preventing
flooding. Additional vegetation can also slow down strong water flow, allowing excess
moisture to be absorbed into the soil. 2nd is cleaning up the sewer system so it can
function properly. Waste, debris, sediment, tree roots, and leaves can clog sewer
systems causing flood in low areas in our barangay. Lastly is providing education to
everyone just like what I am doing right now. The residents of our barangay need to be
informed about the significance of maintaining clear drainage systems. This may lessen
the quantity of trash and other debris that clogs waterways and culverts.
How about earthquake? How can we prevent and mitigate the effects of an
earthquake? We are aware that our barangay sits on top of a fault line, so we are most
likely to be at risk of earthquakes. And even though we cannot stop natural earthquakes
from happening, we can greatly reduce their effects by practicing drop, cover, and hold
with all members of our household, putting together an emergency kit, making a house
evacuation strategy that includes our pets and maintaining knowledge of the risk and
response strategies in our community.
Yun lamang po at sana ay marami kayong natutunan na aral upang maging
ligtas ang ating barangay. Muli, Magandang umaga.
