VACUUM

CLEANER
 The vacuum cleaner is a electrical device
and used as household appliances,suck
liquiid and solid substances from the
environment.
 They are so ideal for cleaning both floors
and carpets and manage to collect very
small particles
 The Vacuum Cleaner was invented by Hubert Cecil Booth
in 1901. Booth created a large device, driven by
an internal combustion engine which is named the
“Puffing Billy”.The first petrol powered ,horse drawn
vacuum cleaner , relied upon air drawn linked between a
piston pump and cloth filter. But the first invention has no
brushes, all the cleaning was done by suction along the
long tubes to nozzles as you see in the figure.

 The development of his vacuum cleaner ,Booth invent
electric-power machine. But this machine too bulky to
carry and had occured so noisy during the operation.
It is time for laughing
 Before we consider exactly the power of vacuum cleaner
and how they work, this ıllustration may help us and think
what they can do properly…
Attachments Of Vacuum Cleaner

 Hundred of Vacuum cleaners are supplied with numerous

specialized attachments such as tools, brushes and
extansion wands…
 An intake port, which include a speacialized components
 An exhaust port
 An electric motor
 A fan
 A porous bag
You can see in the figure,
exhaust port,electric
motor,fan,ıntake port.
The Operation Principle of Vacuum Cleaner
 When you plug the vacuum cleaner in and turn it on, this
is what happens:
 The electric current operates the motor.
 The motor is attached to the fan, which has angled blades
 As the fan blades turn, they force air forward, toward
the exhaust port.
 When air particles are driven forward, the density of
particles (and therefore the air pressure) increases in front
of the fan and decreases behind the fan.
The Operation Principle of Vacuum Cleaner
 This pressure drop behind the fan is just like the pressure
drop in the straw when you sip from your drink. The
pressure level in the area behind the fan drops below the
pressure level outside the vacuum cleaner. This creates
suction, a partial vacuum, inside the vacuum cleaner.
 The ambient air pushes itself into the vacuum cleaner
through the intake port because the air pressure inside the
vacuum cleaner is lower than the pressure outside.
The Operation Principle of Vacuum Cleaner
 As long as the fan operating and the passageway as the
vacuum cleaner remains open, there is a constant stream
of air moving from intake port out to the exhaust
port. After the usage of friction a flowing stream of air
suck the dirt and dust from the carpet.
Modern Configurations

 The last decades of twentieth century seems the more

widespread use of technologies including,
 both electric and water use,
 filterless cylonic dirt seperation,
 central vacuum systems, and rechargeable
 hand held vacuums.
 In addition, depending on miniaturized computer
technology ,developed the new types of machine-the
autonomous robotic vacuum cleaner
Upright

 Mostly known in USA and Great Britain.

 Upright vacuum cleaners use a drive-belt powered by the
suction motor to rotate the brush-roll.
 They have a design of cleaning head, onto which are
attached a handle and bag.
Upright
 It is seperated two types of Upright vacuum cleaner.
 One of them is direct-fan cleaner.
 Direct-fan cleaner which have a large fan, through the dirt
passes directly, before blown into the bag.
 The fan is mounted close to the suction opening and the
motor is cooled by a seperated part of cooling fan.
Upright
 The other types of Upright vacuum cleaner is fan-bypass
whose motor is located behind the filter bag.
 Before dust passes through the fan, dust is removed from
airstream by bag.
 The fan is smaller otherwise have several

properties about combination of moving

and working with stationary turbines
during the operation.
The motor is cooled by the airstream
passing through it
Canister(cyclinder models)
 Canister models are the most popular vacuum cleaners in
European countries.
 They have a motor and dust collector which is mounted on
the wheels which is in seperate units.
 The device require a less electric power for efficient
operation.
Drum
 The drum whose canister consist of a
large vertically positioned drum which
is mounted on wheel is speacialized
for ındustrial work.
 The motor is more powerful than
 domestic appliances and the tractive
 force of them is so efficient that
 it is provided a good cleaning for workshops.
Wet/Dry
 Wet dry cleaners are also known as Shop Vac
 It is specialized form of cylinder models.
 It can be used suck liquid spils

and clean up wet.

The motor is less powerful than drum
because it is used both in outdoors and
indoors
such house or small shops.
Backpack

 Allows complete freedom of movement in restricted areas,

narrow passageways and between rows of seats. Uitilises
modern rucksack design for operator comfort and does
away with the need to trail a vacuum behind by the hose.
Handheld Vacuum Cleaner

 Handheld vacuum cleaners are small, lightweight

vacuums that are usually battery powered and designed to
be used in conjunction with a larger upright vacuum
cleaner.
 They are ideal for cleaning areas like a car's upholstery or
a staircase, where an upright vacuum would be too large,
heavy, or limited by its electrical cord.
Robotic(Robovac)
 A robotic vacuum cleaner,
often called a robovac, is an
 autonomous robotic vacuum cleaner
 that has intelligent programming
and a limited vacuum cleaning system.
  Some designs use spinning brushes to

reach tight corners.

 Others combine a number of cleaning features (mopping, UV
sterilization, etc.) simultaneous to vacuuming, thus rendering
the machine into more than just a robot "vacuum" cleaner.
Robotic(Robovac)
 They usually programme around the furniture and come
back to a docking statition to charge their batteries.
The Component of Robotic Vacuum Clenear
 Most models are attached motorized brushes and a vacuum
motor to collect dust and liquid.
Robotic(Robovac)
 Some models integrate security cameras, intercom
systems and other features as you see in the photo.
Robotic(Robovac)
 There can also be general caretaker service robots that
have the ability to perform other basic housework tasks
such as moving items, preparing food, and other cleaning
in addition to vacuuming.
Cyclonic
 Cyclonic cleaners do not use filtration bags
 Instead, the dust is separated in a detachable cylindrical
collection vessel or bin.
 Air and dust are sucked at high speed into the collection vessel
at a direction tangential to the vessel wall, creating a fast-
spinning vortex.
Cyclonic
 The dust particles and other debris move to the outside of
the vessel by centrifugal force where they fall due to
gravity.
 The Working Principle of Cylonic vacuum clenear is that
the cleaned air from the center of the
vortex is expelled from the machine
after passing through a number of
successively finer filters at the
top of the container.
Central Vacuum Cleaner
 The central unit usually stays in stand-by, and is turned on
by a switch on the handle of the hose.
 A central vacuum typically produces greater suction than
common portable vacuum cleaners because a larger fan
and more powerful motor can be used .
 Central vacuum systems can be installed

during the construction of a new home or

even in an existing home with a simple
installation.
Central Vacuum Cleaner

 When choosing your central vacuum system, there are a

few things to consider: the size of your home in square
feet, the amount of floors in your home, and whether you
have hardwood floors, carpeting or a combination of
the two.
Central Vacuum Cleaner

 The system of central vacuum cleaner for home save

energy and time for cleaning.
Constellation

 The cyclinder has no wheel and instead the

vacuum cleaner floated on its exhaust,
operating as hovercraft.
 The key is to start in one corner of the

room and make your way across

 The floating feature makes it verymove

very fast across the floor.
