Bayanihan is one of the good traditions that Filipinos
have. This is showing sympathy and good rapport to
others by helping them in doing some difficult
activities. Bayanihan is usually done when one has to
accomplish a task that can be done more easily wiyh
the help of other people.
Filipinos are helpful people. They love the members
of their family, their relatives, neighbors, friends, and
even strangers. If the family is poor, the members help
one another in order to survive. The older members of
the family also tend to sacrifice everything for the
education of the younger ones.
Bayanihan is also an occasion for fun
because it brings the people of the
community closer to one another. It
means getting together or helping one
another in a common project or work.
 Aside from bayanihan, the term “palusong” is
also used. It is about neighbors who help one
another in building a house and in working in
the fields.
Another part of Filipino tradition that shows care
for others is when a member of the family dies.
In this case, the neighbors, relatives, and friends
give voluntary contributions called “abuloy” in
order to help in the burial expenses. They also
stay during the wake to comfort the family of the
dead. They also participate in the :pasiyam” or
the nine-day prayer done to ask God to forgive
