INTERCROPPING – maximizes
the space and time of growing
different crops in the garden as it
allows you to plant different crops
simultaneously.
DIFFERENT TYPES OF INTERCROPPING
1. Mixed cropping – means planting the crops in no
specific order or arrangement. They are planted and
harvested together.
2. Row cropping or Alley cropping – means
planting different crops in rows alternately.
3. Relay cropping or Temporal cropping
– means planting a fast growing and slow-
growing crop.

Plant propagation- means to
multiply or to reproduce plants using
the different parts of the plant.
Common Ways of Plant Propagation
1. Cutting
a. Stem Cutting is the common method in
propagating ornamental plants, especially for
house plants.
b. Leaf cutting- is done by using a leaf and its
stem, or the leaf alone, for propagation.
c. Root cutting– is done when the plant is dormant. Plants usually goes
dormant during winter or summer.
D. Layering - is done without the need of cutting any parts of the plant.
Two most common ways of layering:
1. simple layering – is easy to do and is excellent for woody plants and other shrubs.
2.Air layering or
marcotting- is
good to apply for
tropical ornamental
plants and house
plants.
