Cambridge exam IGCSE, AS & A Level in

Indonesia for the June 2021 series will not
take place, instead we are switching to an
approach based on school-assessed
grades (not teacher-assessed grades).
CAIE exams June 2021 series
Will exam grades be fair and comparable between
students who sit exams and students who have school
assessed grades?
● The CAIE take responsibility to assess students fairly.
● The CAIE are working to ensure that grades are
comparable whichever route a student takes in 2021.

The school-assessed grades in June 2021 are different to
the predicted grades which were issued in the June 2020
series.
● The predicted grades issued in June 2020 were based on the
centre’s judgement based on student’s potential.
● In June 2021, the school-assessed grades will be based on
actual achievement.
Quantity of evidence required
● A portfolio of 3 substantial pieces of work in each
syllabus.
● A piece of work that has taken at least 1 hour of
work to complete.
● No candidate should have more than, or fewer than,
three pieces of work in their portfolio.
Quality of evidence required
● The three substantial pieces of work in the portfolio
must cover as broad a range as possible of the syllabus
content. For example, where syllabus content is
organised into topics, the three pieces of work in a
portfolio should be on different topics.
● Equivalent or similar to CAIE past papers.
Quality of evidence required
● Ideally, all of the work in the portfolio should have been
done under the direct supervision of a teacher. So, the
teacher can be reasonably confident that students have not
had inappropriate access to the internet, to open books, or
to the assistance of families or friends while doing the work.
Summary
Based on the guidance from CAIE above, school decide to
prepare the school-assessed grades will be:
● based on the latest student’s achievement (May 2021)

● three (3) substantial pieces of written assessment

● cover as broad a range as possible of the syllabus

content
