CHAPTER 2
METHODOLOGY
RESEARCH DESIGN

In this project study, the researcher chose a

quantitative type research design. Quantitative
research design tends to more fixed, with
variables and methods determined in advance of
data collection.
DATA ANALYSIS
The Rice Collector underwent several trials to
test its performance. The test was used to
determine the technical performance of the
machine in terms of throughput capacity,
efficiency, and effectiveness in comparison to
manual method of collecting of rice..

CONSTRUCTION PROCEDURE
FRAME OF THE MACHINE
The frame of the machine was made up of
angle bars necessary to hold all the parts of the
machine.
CONSTRUCTION PROCEDURE
VACUUM ASSEMBLY
The flexible hose is attached to the vacuum housing, which
was composed of the fan and screen, that was mounted above
the motor. The housing of the fan was fabricated in order to force
the rice to be vacuumed with the highest possible force.
CONSTRUCTION PROCEDURE
INSTALLATION AND ALIGNMENT
Upon fabricating the different parts of the frame,
pulleys and belts were installed. The motor was also
installed on it. Finally, rollers were welded to the frame in
order to transport the machine easily from one place to
another.

SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND

RECOMMENDATIONS
SUMMARY
• The Rice Collector is designed according to the initial design
of the researchers.
SUMMARY
• The construction and fabrication were built from a variety of
materials and assembled according to the researcher’s
design.
SUMMARY
• After repeated trials, the machine was discovered to be in
good working order, but it cannot efficiently collect rice
paddies making it less efficient than manually collecting rice,
therefore revisions were made.
CONCLUSIONS

• The researchers tested the Rice Collector and

addressed the problems encountered during
testing.
CONCLUSIONS

• The researchers computed the efficiency of the

Rice Collector to know if it is more economical
to use than manual collecting of rice.
CONCLUSIONS

• The Rice Collector is functioning well but it is

not practical to use because of its low efficiency.
RECOMMENDATIONS

• The design of the Rice Collector can be further

improved for a better output.
• The development and fabrication of the Rice
Collector can be further improved for a larger
quantity of rice to be a vacuum.
RECOMMENDATIONS

• The fan can be changed into a steel plate for a

faster vacuum.
• The housing design can be improved.
RECOMMENDATIONS

• Use a smaller diameter for the hose and a

larger pulley for the motor to increase the rpm of
the fan
• Use MIG welding to strengthen the metal bond.
