Low Power Mode

• Low Power Mode alerts the customer or dealer that the asset’s alternator
battery supply is disconnected.
• 12 volt or 24 volt relay notifies the PLG that the genset neutral disconnect
has been switched to the OFF position
• Once Low Power Mode is detected, the PLG enters low power mode and
wakes up at certain intervals to report GPS location.
• If the GPS location does not change, then the PLG returns to sleep mode.
• If the GPS location does change the PLG device notifies the system that
GPS location has changed.
• A compact, back-up battery will be available later this year.

PLG CONNECTIONS

Optional Connections (not included in the field retrofit harness)

 RS485 2-wire (half duplex) for connecting PLG6x1 to Modbus RTU supported devices. Follow proper
RS485 wiring practices.
 RS232 for connecting PLG6x1 to a single Data communication Equipment (DCE).
 LAN port for connecting PLG6x1 to Modbus TCP/IP supported devices using standard Ethernet cable.
 WAN for connecting PLG6x1 to local wide area network using standard Ethernet cable.
 Analog input(s) 1&3 for connecting PT100 sensors. Analog input(s) 1-4 for connecting voltage sensors
(0-10 VDC) or 0-20 mA current sensors.
 Digital input 2 for connecting PLG6x1 to dry contact input circuits.
 Relay output for connecting PLG6x1 to other circuits.

Firmware
• Product Link Elite Series:
• Unit must have PLE601 459-0786 part number or later, which is within the
PLE601 kit (473-7723 (standard or later) or PL641 kit (473-7722 or later), and
the latest firmware. One PLE601 kit is needed per engine and one PL641 kit
is needed per vessel.
– For retrofit Elite series firmware can be found on SIS Web.
• PLE601 Firmware (TR Suffix Code): #535-8389 or later, PL641 Firmware: #539-5807 or later
• For Factory Fit Elite series firmware will already be included with the unit
• PLE631 will not work with the Cat RAM, however, satellite options are under
investigation

• Product Link Generation Series:
– For latest firmware information contact DSN.

Caterpillar: Confidential Green

Configuration Files

• The configuration file allows information to flow from the asset or assets to
the PLE601/PLE614/PLG601/PLG641 device to the platform/back office
and into the user interface.

• PLE and PLG devices require a configuration file to communicate, collect

and display information from the asset. To help you understand what
specific parameters can be visualized in Cat RAM for a specific asset/site,
configuration support is available through the DSN. To receive this support
and the appropriate configuration file, complete the site assessment form
and submit it to the Dealer Solutions Network DSN. To download the site
assessment form visit Powernet
