Study of Pharmacology in India


Means -

• This Para clinical branch is a science which deals with the study of drugs. It deals
with the interaction of exogenous administered chemical molecules with living
substances.

• Para clinical, which means no direct contact with the patients, is an up coming
option. It comprises of three branches, namely, Pharmacology, Pathology, and
Microbiology.

The typical role of a Pharmacologist in a corporate set up can be divided into two
broad categories-

Medico marketing - Marketing a drug wherever medical information is required.


Includes pointing out the indications and the contraindications, training the medical
representatives, and spreading awareness amongst doctors about the newly
launched drug.

Clinical research - Clinical trials [The drug has to go through various stages
before it makes an appearance in the market], drug development process, and
regulatory and pharmacovigilance [pertaining to safety of drugs]. Basically you
will be a part of a medical team, which will work in tandem with the regulatory and
safety team on the drugs you are dealing with.
