International Project Management
Association (IPMA)
• The IPMA is the global standard for individual competence in project, programme
and portfolio management.
• It supports the development of individual competence through the presentation of
a complete inventory of competence elements across projects, programmes and
portfolios.
• IPMA goals:
• To enrich and improve the individual’s competence in project, portfolio and
programme management and to provide inventory of competences that if fully
realized, represent complete mastery of these management domains
Organization and Project Management
Processes
Project life cycle is managed by executing a series of project
management activities known as project management processes. Every
project management process produces one or more outputs from one or
more inputs by using appropriate project management tools and
techniques.

Organization and Project Management
Processes
Project Management Processes generally fall into one of three categories

• Processes used once or at predefined points in the project

• Processes that are performed periodically as needed
• Processes that are performed continuously throughout the project

Project management is accomplished through the appropriate application and

integration of logically grouped project management processes. While there are
different ways of grouping processes, PMBOK Guide groups processes into five
categories called Process Groups.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROCESS
GROUPS
Process Groups are independent of project phases.
Project management processes are grouped into five
Project Management Process Groups

• Initiating Process Group

• Planning Process Group
• Executing Process Group
• Monitoring and Controlling Process Group
• Closing Process Group
