Human Dignity

[Our God] is he who gives to everyone life and breath and everything…
In him we live and move and have our being.
-Acts 17:25,28
Human Dignity
•The Church takes up social issues not
because of any ideological agenda or
pursuit of political influence but because
of its duty to serve as the “sign and
safeguard of the transcendence of the
human person” (Gaudium et Spes)
Human Dignity
•In all its social teachings, the
Church emphasizes that all
human persons are created by
God with dignity and in
community .
Human Dignity
•By proclaiming that every person is a child
of God, the Church protects and promotes
the dignity of all human persons because
“only in seeing every person in relation to
God, who is the author and final goal of
all, is true human dignity preserved.
Human Dignity
•Our true dignity rests on the
fact that we are called to
communion with God (CFC

how many Filipinos can

Our Real Worth as a Person
•Jesus taught us that our basic dignity
as human person (pagkatao) depends
not on any measurable worldly
standard, but rather on God, who
loves us unconditionally and calls us
to love in return.
WE ARE LOVED.
•God loves us, we are,
unconditionally. He assured us
that even if a mother forgets her
child, He will never forget us.
God’s unconditional love
WE ARE LOVED.
•We learn here that even before we come to
our senses (conversion) and return to our
Father, He is already offering grace to
inspire us to repent. God does not only
forgive us no matter how grace are, but also
works actively to bring us to conversion.
WE ARE LOVED.
•The moral implication of this
truth is that we must be open
to God’s inspiration and love.
WE ARE CALLED TO LOVE
•God’s love becomes real for us
only if we are open to receive it
and allow the Holy Spirit to
move us to love in return.
WE ARE CALLED TO LOVE
•God’s love for all human persons is
the basis of our fundamental human
dignity. Our basic dignity is not
something we produce, or something
conferred on us by any individual or
by society.
WE ARE CALLED TO LOVE
•How Deep is
God’s Love for us?
•If our real worth is based
on God’s love, how solid
is our dignity? How much
does God love us?
•We are created in the image and likeness
of God.
•God the Son became human like us.
•The Triune God dwells within and
among us.
•God destined us for Himself.
