 Racism was a critical issue of generations of
communities throughout all periods of history.

Best exemplified in :

- Religious Conflicts (Crusades , Holocausts …etc)


- Slaverey
- Segregation
- Colonialism & Imperialism
INTRODUCTION

 Racism was not studied by scholars of language


,Discourse and comminucation. Not like
Feminism

 It is considered as a political issue ; No need to


urge systematic and scholarly studies
 The whites consitute a majority among Discouse
Analysts
 Besides the political , medical … we find the Racist
Discourse

WHAT IS Racism??
Racism is the belief in the superiority of one race over
another, which often results in discrimination and prejudice
towards people based on their race or ethnicity.
NEW RACISM
 A new form of racism practised by the allegedly democratc west , who
deny they are racist
 They distance themeselves from the minorities , create stereotype for
them and blame their race of being bad
WHY RACIST ATTITUDES ARE
INCREASING WITH NO STOP !
 Media ; used to exert the white dominance and marginilize the
minorites

 Politics ; By restricting access to things (Immigration for instance) for a


particular race or group

 Public : By shaping minds and spreading sterotypes


CRITICAL DISCOURSE
ANALYSIS
 Takes its roots from critical linguistics ; knowing why and how the
discourse is produced

 Discourse is a product of social processes and contribute to its


reproduction
 It is used to analyze : Political speeches , News , Job interviews …etc in
manipulative strategies ; it seems to be neutral to the public
