high demand in services (shopping and delivery, grocery stores, online
learning companies, remote and communication companies, childcare
providers)
Challenges:
• Remote hiring (initial interview to onboarding)
• Long working hours required for the recruiters which can cause fatigue
3. DIFFICULTY GETTING APPLICATIONS
• Potential candidates reluctant in changing companies due to the uncertainty
during these times.
Challenges:
• Reassuring current employees and future candidates about the company’s
stability
• The idea of company rebranding
- opportunity to some, challenge to many
4. DIGITIZE RECRUITMENT PROCESS
• Adjustment from on-site to work from home situation
• Make tools available online and computed-assisted
• Introduction of Recruitment System

• Limitations of computer-assisted tools (unstable internet connection, system
restrictions)

CURRENT TRAINING SITUATION IN THE NEW NORMAL
1. GROUP A, GROUP B METHOD
• Suitable set-up for companies who implemented skeletal workforce
Advantages:
• Participants set into a minimum number thus higher rate of concentration among audience
• Much greater interaction compared to distant/ remote learning.
Disadvantages:
• Time shortened in consideration with the existing curfew.
• Dividing participants into groups/batches suggests recurring trainings for only one course.
2. REMOTE TRAINING
• Done in work-from-home situations
Advantages:
• More convenient - training in the comfort of their homes
• No time restrictions
• Can accommodate huge number of participants
Disadvantages:
• Audience focus
• Interaction lowered
• Transfer of learning
DIFFICULTIES IN CONDUCTING REMOTE TRAINING
1. Onboarding training for new employees – coaching new employees can be a challenge
to the line managers during remote training. Proximity changes the way how new
employees absorb learnings.
2. Staying on the same page – maintaining the pace for both parties can be quite difficult
in this situation
3. Staying on top of your mind – employee attendance and engaging training materials
does not ALL THE TIME guarantee an “on top of the mind” employee.
DIFFICULTIES IN CONDUCTING REMOTE TRAINING

• PRE-COVID times: Shadowing, orientation with the new colleagues, slowly getting into
the culture, getting a feel on the day-to-day work.
• During COVID: Launching innovative tools used for training such as:
 Off-the-shelf learning content/ E-Learning Portal
 The idea of microlearning – extract from the present task listing
 Maximize use of video newsletters (especially for introducing new SOPs or new
products)
