COURSE OBJECTIVES

The course will cover the fundamental concept of


production engineering. It is designed as a course that
will give students a necessary foundation for a
comprehensive understanding of production processes
and production systems. The objective of the course is to
provide detailed information to the students about the
processes and machines involved in different material
removal processes like conventional machining, abrasive
machining, non-conventional machining processes and
numerically controlled machining. Furthermore the
course introduces the students to the concept of
metrology, production planning, flexible manufacturing
systems, group technology and Computer integrated 2
manufacturing (CIM).
