COMPUTER

• COMPUTER is an electronic device that

manipulates information, or data. It
can process, save, store, and
retrieve data.

HARDWARE - It is the physical

component or the tangible parts that
makes up the computer system. It is
classified as input, output, processing and
output devices.

• SYSTEM UNIT  It is the part of a computer that
houses the primary devices that perform operations
and produce results for complex calculations.

• It includes the motherboard, CPU, RAM and other

components, as well as the case in which these
devices are housed.

• MOUSE - It is a pointing device that sends

control signals into the computer.

• It is used to move the cursor (usually arrow

icon) on the screen and to perform click
actions.

• MONITOR - It is the main output

component used on a PC.

• It is where the computer can show you

what you are doing.

• KEYBOARD - It is an input device that contains set of keys

that are used to input characters (letters, numbers) and
control signals into the computer.

• SPEAKER - It is an output device

which gives the user auditory feedback
regarding the state of the computer. 

• It is used to play sound. They may be built

into the system unit or connected with cables.
Speakers allow you to listen to music and
hear sound effects from your computer.

• PRINTER - It is a device that helps you to

print what you see on monitor on a paper.

• A printer is a peripheral device which produces

a hard copy (permanent readable text and/or
graphics) of documents stored in electronic
form, usually on physical print media such as
paper or transparencies.

• SCANNER - It is a device that captures images from photographic

prints, posters, magazine pages, and similar sources for computer

editing and display.

• AUTOMATIC VOLTAGE REGULATOR

(AVR) - It is a hardware device used to

maintain a voltage to electronic devices.

• UNINTERRUPTIBLE POWER SUPPLY (UPS) - It
is a device that allows your computer to keep running for
at least a short time when the primary power source is
lost. It also provides protection from power surges.

• A UPS contains a battery that "kicks in" when

the device senses a loss of power from the
primary source.
