What is SOR?

The Schedule of Rates is well known as rate guide in the construction

industry and is the standard document used in public sector construction
work.
It is considered as key reference for
•estimating,
•tendering and
•contracting work in the construction sector.

It helps in benchmarking and ensuring that planned construction is carried

out cost effectively as possible

• Some departments have their own List of
Approved products. These departments may
vary from State to state. Some examples are
– CIDCO
– IWD
– DGSND
– DGNP
etc.

• Find out the projects, other works and
understand our solution/products scope
• Convey the suitability of solution and products
and put forward the request of inclusion
• Start interaction at Top level-Like CE/SE
• Take off
 Department Approval/Schedule of Rates may have the
following steps. You may find out the exact procedure of the
department that individual region is selecting:
• Product Registration form
• Details and Documents to be attached. (Company Details,
Project Credentials, Projects details etc)
• Submission to concerned person who will move our case
ahead
• Understand the hierarchy (how our case will move-Procedure
and the related officers)
• Consultancy Charges that may be required
• Presentation and Regular meetings
• Visit to Factory (Please do not initiate this from our side, only
if it is mandatory or the client is insisting we need to move
this)

 Assignment 1-Give Our Equivalent
• Gabian Structure (Providing and construction of a
gabain structure with segments of wire crates of
size 7 m x 3 m x 0.6 m each divided into 1.5 m
compartments by cross netting, made from 4 mm
galvanized steel wire @ 32 kg per 10sqm having
minimum tensile strength of 300 Mpa conforming
to IS:280 and galvanizing coating conforming to
IS:4826, woven into mesh with double twist, mesh
size not exceeding 100 x 100 mm, filled with
boulders with least dimension of 200 mm, all loose
ends to be tied with 4 mm galvanised steel wire
 Assignment 2
• From your SOR yearly planner, Identify the
relevant officials(of department targeted) whom
to be contacted and list the procedure for SOR-
These details to be provided for Minimum 3 no of
SOR before 13th March
