 In the FONT area you
can set a FONT
STYLE

 Define the height of

There are five effects you can

Creating text styles
1. Create a text style named “AutoCAD Exercise 1” with the following
settings:
a. Font: Arial
b. Font style: Bold
c. Height: 10 mm
d. Width factor: 1

2. Create a text style named “AutoCAD Exercise 2” with the following


settings:
a. Font: Times New Roman
b. Font style: Regular
c. Height: 15 mm
d. Width factor: 2

3. Create a text style named “AutoCAD Exercise 3” with the following


settings:
a. Font: Arial
b. Font style: Regular
c. Height: 30 mm
d. Width factor: 3

 Use either Multiline text (MTEXT) or SINGLE LINE text (TEXT)


 MTEXT can create several paragraphs of text as a single multiline
text
 TEXT creates create one or more lines of text, where each text
line is an independent object that you can relocate, reformat, or
otherwise modify
Inserting Multiline text
 Make “current” text style “AutoCAD exercise 1”
 Activate MULTILINE text and write the word “Multiline text”
 To modify a multiline text, double click in the word you have
written. AutoCAD will then automatically present a new tab called
“Text editor”.
 Use “Text editor” to format your text
Inserting Single line text
 Make “current” text style
“AutoCAD exercise 2”.
 Activate SINGLE LINE text
and write the word “Single
line text”.
 To modify a single line text,
select the word, right click
and then select properties.
AutoCAD will then present a
properties window on the left
so you can modify your text.
Exercise

Open your submission for AutoCAD


exercise 1 and add text as shown in the
drawings.
Hatch
Hatch patterns are graphic elements that help
you to represent types of materials, special
regions, or textures.
Hatch (H)
1. Open your submission for AutoCAD Exercise 3.
2. Click the HATCH TOOL (1) on the Home tab’s Draw panel. The
HATCH CREATION RIBBON TAB (2) appears.

3. Zoom in the bathroom area of the Existing Ground Floor Plan and
click inside the area representing the bathroom floor. The hatch
pattern is placed in the floor area

4. Modify hatch as follows:
Hatch type: User defined
Hatch colour: Blue
Hatch spacing: 100

5. Apply hatch patterns to all areas of the floor plans of AutoCAD

Hatch – gap boundary problem
If there is a gap in the selected boundary for hatch,
then the command cannot be executed and the
message below will appear. You need to find and
close the gap to apply hatch
Hatch – gap boundary problem
If the drawing is big then you may struggle to find the
gaps. A solution to this is to set a GAP TOLERANCE
appropriate for your drawing. You can find this in the
HATCH CREATION RIBBON TAB which opens when
you activate hatch command.
