WHAT IS FACILITATING LEARNER
CENTERED TEACHING?
• Facilitating learning is where the students are
encouraged to take more control of their
learning process. The trainer’s role becomes that
of facilitation and organizer providing resources
and support to learners. They might also set
their own objectives and be responsible to
learning assessment.

ROLE OF THE TEACHER IN FACILITATING
LEARNING
• In many group teaching situations, the role of
the teacher is that of facilitator of learning,
leading discussions, asking open-ended
questions, guiding process and tasks and
enabling active participation of learners and
engagement with ideas. The instructor who
imparts information to student.

CHARACTERISTICS OF LEARNING-
CENTERED TEACHING
•Engaging students, teaching problem
solving, getting students to think about
thinking, allowing students to have
control and collaboration are all
characteristics of learner-centered
teaching.

Mental Factors, Emotional/Social
Factors, Teachers Personality and
Environmental Factors.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FACILITATING
AND TEACHING
• Teaching is actually teacher-centered. Facilitating
is very student-centered and is dedicated to
learning. Teaching is more like ‘sage on the
stage’ where the teacher usually delivers the
content to the audience and is more focused on
his content that that of the participants. It
concentrates on individual conduct.
