 Born on August 24, 1947 in Brazil
 Ever since his teenage, Coelho wanted
to become a writer
 Before dedicating his life completely to literature,
he worked as theatre director and actor, lyricist
and journalist.
 In 1982 Coelho published his first book, Hell
Archives, which failed to make any kind of impact
 The Alchemist in 1988
 1st edition sold only 900 copies
 Moved to another publishing house
 The Alchemist went on to sell more copies
than any other book in the history of Brazil,
and even made it into the Guinness Book of
Records
 it launched him as an international
bestselling author.
 The Alchemist has sold more than 20 million
copies worldwide and has been translated
into more than 41 languages
