Main Principle Limitation Detail S Heat Recovery Switch Box

System Diagram Introduction
01 Main Principle

Resistance of Refrigerant Flow Piping length and vertical difference limitation

1. Our ODU compressor provide the power to refrigerant flow. The max. piping resistance must be smaller than the
upper value of compressor.
2. In cooling mode, we must keep the super-cooling degree to confirm the refrigerant status before it evaporates.

Matching Ratio Actual capacity output

1. The lowest operation frequency of ODU compressor is about 10% of full load condition. (Lower limiting value)
2. The actual output capacity will not enough if the matching ratio is too high. (Upper limiting value)

Refrigerant Distribution Maximum quantity of connectable IDU

1. The unbalance distributed condition will happen if the branch quantity is too much.

Oil Return Vertical difference between ODU&IDU, IDUs or ODUs

1. For the ODU on top condition, the oil will de separated when the refrigerant status is gas. That the oil come back
compressor is hard.
2. The oil distribution is unsuitable if the vertical difference between IDUs or ODUs.
02 Limitation Detail

IDUs quantity is less than the recommended value.

If L3 > 15m, φ6.35 Liquid Pipe must be replaced with “φ9.53 +

reducer” for reducing the resistance of refrigerant flow.
For Top Flow product, S Series, X Series, R Series and G+ Series, the limiting value is same with the above table.
The notice about L1 limitation is very important. If equivalent lenghth of L1 > 100m, the pipe between Manifold #1 and
First Branch must be increased one size.
L2 limitation is touched usually. Especially, the when the quantity of IDUs is more than the recommend value, please pay
attention about it.
H1 limitation is also requested usually. If the demand of project is bigger than it, send the project information to us. We
can help you solve it.

Main Branch Pipe Limitation for X Series and R Series

Main Branch Pipe Definition: The two ways of branch pipe connect with two branch pipes after it.
The Main Branch Pipe can be designed on the first 3 position.

Main Branch Pipe Limitation for X Series and R Series

1. The Main Branch Pipe can be designed on the first 3 position.

2. Both of the total length of pipe length after the main branch are bigger than 30m. The quantity is 2.
3. For the balance of refrigerant distribution, the total capacity of the main branch’s two-way must be near, or one
part of IDUs operation will not good enough. So the Ratio of Indoor Unit Capacity after main branch must be higher
than 40%.

02 Limitation Detail

Limitation for pipe size & vertical difference …

Pipe Size
1. The pipe size near IDU ports must match with the ports’ size.
2. L1 > 100m, the pipe size of red line must be increased one
size.
Q: How about the pipe size of red line > 100m condition?
A: We don’t need to increase the pipe size of L1 part. In the
high matching ratio condition, if the pipe size after the First
Branch is bigger than before, choose the same size with the
Pipe before First Branch.
3. Keep 500mm the straight-line distance between the
Manifold Pipe.
Vertical Difference
The vertical difference between IDUs is 15m.

The vertical difference between modules of ODU is 0.1m.

System with Switch Box

Water Module connected with Hi/Lo Pressure Gas

and Liquid Pipes. It just can provide hot water only.

IDU connected with Low Pressure Gas and Liquid

Pipes. It just can operate in cooling mode only.

IDUs connect with same port of Switch Box. They

operation mode must be same.

Total Capacity Ratio 50%~150%
With SW Device 50%~150%
Indoor Unit Without SW Device 0%~50%

Water Module 0%~60%
We have to confirm the capacity ratio according to the Table 1.
1. Total cooling capacity of all indoor side / ODU cooling capacity = 50%~150%.
2. Total capacity of IDU cooling only / ODU cooling capacity = 0%~50%.
3. Total capacity of Water Module / ODU cooling capacity = 0%~60%.

04 Switch Box Introduction

L4 or e+f+g must be smaller than 40m.

For Multi Branch, it is the pipe length between Switch Box and farthest
IDU.
For Single Branch, it is the total pipe length connected with this branch.
H4 must be smaller than 4m.
We need pay attention about the vertical difference between IDUs
connected with same switch box when the IDUs are installed in
different floor.
