What are video games?
1. A video game or computer game is an electronic game that involves
interaction with a user interface or input device – such as a joystick,
controller, keyboard, or motion sensing device – to generate visual
feedback.
When were videogames created?
1. In October 1958, Physicist William Higinbotham created what is
thought to be the first video game. It was a very simple tennis game,
similar to the classic 1970s video game Pong, and it was quite a hit
at a Brookhaven National Laboratory open house.
Where can we play videogames?
Games may be played on personal computers, on dedicated
gaming consoles like the PS, Xbox, Sega and Nintendo
attached to a television on cell phones
Why were video games originally created?
1. These early computer programmers weren't just wasting time or
looking for new ways to goof off. They had practical reasons to
create games. During the 1950s and 1960s, computers took up
entire rooms and were so expensive that only universities and large
companies could afford them.

industry. The arcade video game industry in the
US alone was generating $5 billion of revenue
annually in 1981 and the number of arcades
doubled between 1980 and 1982. The effect video
games had on society expanded to other
mediums as well such as major films and music.

Videogames in the 90´s
It was a decade of marked innovation in video gaming. It was a
decade of transition from sprite-based graphics to 3D graphics
and it gave rise to several genres of video games including, but
not limited to, the first person shooter, real-time strategy and
survival horror.

Videogames in the 2000´s
In the 2000s advances in 3D computer graphics affected both
animation and game development, as 3D gradually became more
popular than 2D. By the end of the decade, Xbox 360 and
Playstation 3 games boasted shockingly realistic graphics capable
of instantly wowing players.

How has the gaming industry changed?
Perhaps the most interesting change in the video game
industry is the expanding demographics of gamers.
