Water Cycle
Evaporation
The sun warms the ocean surface and other surface water, causing liquid water to
evaporate and ice to sublime
Condensation
Over time, water vapor in the atmosphere condenses into clouds
Precipitation
Eventually it falls as precipitation, rain or snow.

When precipitation reaches Earth's surface, it has a few options: it may evaporate
again, flow over the surface, or percolate—sink down—into the ground.

Carbon Cycle

CO2+H2O⇌H2CO3⇌HCO3−+H+⇌CO32−+2H+

*Carbon dioxide from the atmosphere dissolves in water

Processes:
Photosynthesis: Photosynthesis by land plants, bacteria, and algae converts
carbon dioxide or bicarbonate into organic molecules.

Respiration : respiration converts the organic carbon back into carbon dioxide gas.

decomposition,

natural weathering of rocks

Nitrogen Cycle- Nitrogen is everywhere! In fact, N gas makes up about 78% of 2

Earth's atmosphere by volume

Processes:
Nitrogen fixation- nitrogen gas is converted into inorganic nitrogen compounds,

Nitrogen assimilation- Nitrates and ammonia are assimilated into the specific tissue compounds of algae
and higher plants

Ammonification- remains of all living things—and their waste products—are decomposed by

microorganisms in the process of ammonification,

Nitrification- a process carried out by nitrifying bacteria, transforms soil ammonia into nitrates (NO3−),
which plants can incorporate into their own tissues.

Denitrification- bacteria which metabolizes nitrates, are especially active in water-logged anaerobic soils.
The action of these bacteria tends to deplete soil nitrates, forming free atmospheric nitrogen.
