THE PROJECT PSALM – PROVIDE STUDENTS ‘ ACCESS TO LEARN
MATHEMATICS

A REMEDIAL CLASS FOR STRUGGLING LEARNERS FROM GRADES


7 -10 TO SUSTAIN THE IMPROVEMENT IN THE PERFORMANCE AND
COMPETENCE OF STUDENTS. LOW GRADES OF STUDENTS WERE
USED AS INSTRUMENT TO IDENTIFY THE LEVEL OF SKILLS OF
MASTERY IN MATHEMATICS CONCEPTS. REMEDIATION IS
SCHEDULED FROM 4:00-6:00 PM VIRTUAL (WF) AND ALSO
SUNDAYS IN THE AFTERNOON.
THE INTERVENTION PROGRAM UTILIZED THE SLOW
PHASE STRATEGIES TO HELP A STRUGGLING LEARNERS TO
COVER UP THEIR DEFICIENCIES. THIS IS ONE WAY OF
ENCOURAGING AND MOTIVATING THE SLOW LEARNERS SO
THAT THEY WILL BE ABLE TO COPE UP WITH THE LESSONS
THAT THEY FIND DIFFICULT TO COMPREHEND.
INSTALL MAP-C TO EVERY CLASSROOM
THE STUDENTS’ ABSENTEEISM CAUSED THE SHORTFALL OF MPS PER
SUBJECT AREA IN THE PREVIOUS YEARS. THIS STRATEGY CALLED “MAP-
C” OR MY ATTENDANCE POCKET CHECKLIST. THIS PROJECT WAS
ADVOCATED TO ALL CLASSROOM ADVISERS. EVERY STUDENT IS
PROVIDED AN ATTENDANCE POCKET . THE POCKET CONTAINED MONTHLY
ATTENDANCE SHEET GOOD FOR 1 SCHOOL YEAR. STUDENT WILL SIGN IN
AND OUT AND AFFIX THEIR SIGNATURE AFTER DOING SO. PRIZES ARE
GIVEN TO STUDENT WHO CAN PERFECT THE ATTENDANCE EVERY MONTH.
REWARDS AND INCENTIVES SYSTEM
THE SCHOOL ALSO ESTABLISHED INCENTIVE SYSTEM FOR
TEACHERS IN DUE RECOGNITION OF THEIR EXCELLENT
PERFORMANCE IN ESTABLISHING HIGH ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE
AMONG THE STUDENTS, IMPLEMENTING EFFECTIVE PROGRAMS AND
SERVICES THAT ENHANCES THE TEACHING-LEARNING PROCESSES,
AND BUILDING CONDUCIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS. INCENTIVES
WERE GIVEN TO DESERVING STUDENTS.
TRANSPARENCY AND GOOD GOVERNANCE
THE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL IS ALSO MOTIVATED TO EXCEL
AND PERFORM BETTER, AND BE MORE INVOLVED EVEN IN THE
COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES, ESTABLISHING LINKAGES WITH
STAKEHOLDERS; AND INTEGRATE SCHOOL MANAGEMENT AND
INSTRUCTIONAL REFORMS TO MAKE THE SCHOOLS
EFFECTIVE. STUDENTS ARE LIKELY TO LEARN BETTER IN SAFE,
COMFORTABLE BUILDINGS WITH SUFFICIENT SPACE AND
ADEQUATE FACILITIES.
THE SCHOOL MOOE WAS UTILIZED TO
IMPLEMENT A STRATEGY FOR MINOR REPAIR AND
MAINTENANCE, PURCHASE OF SUPPLIES AND
MATERIALS FOR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS
ACCORDING TO THE SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN.
 
STRONG PARTNERSHIP WITH PARENTS AND LOCAL OFFICIALS
IN VINCENZO SAGUN, LOCAL OFFICIALS HELP REPAIR CLASSROOMS,
ACQUIRE ADDITIONAL LEARNING MATERIALS AND BUILD ACCESS ROADS
TO SCHOOLS, ALLOTTING FUNDS FROM THE BARANGAY’S INTERNAL
REVENUE ALLOTMENT TO SUPPORT THE INITIATIVE. THE SCHOOL WILL
INTENSIFY ITS COLLABORATION WITH STAKEHOLDERS, AND IN
PARTICULAR, WITH PARENTS, ALUMNI ASSOCIATIONS, THE PRIVATE
SECTOR AND MEMBERS OF THE IMMEDIATE SCHOOL COMMUNITY. THE
CREATION OF SCHOOL BOARDS WILL CONTINUE AND THE ORGANIZATION
OF THE GENERAL PARENT TEACHERS ASSOCIATIONS (GPTA).
FOR TRUE PARTNERSHIP, PARENTS AND TEACHERS
MUST DEVELOP OPPORTUNITIES FOR TWO-WAY
COMMUNICATION, THROUGH WHICH LEARNING IS THE KEY
GOAL. BOTH MUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY TO DEVELOP
POSITIVE OUTCOMES FOR STUDENTS.

SUBJECT TEACHERS, GUIDANCE COUNSELOR, SCHOOL
HEAD, PARENTS AND THE TEACHERS- RESPONDENTS AGREED TO
SUPPORT THIS PROJECT AND CONSIDERED AS AN EFFECTIVE
INTERVENTION. THE DEVELOPED ACTION PLAN SHALL ADDRESS THIS
NECESSITY AND INCLUDE VARIOUS INTERVENTIONS THRU ADVOCACY,
CLOSE FOLLOW UP AND ACTION AGAD PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR
ADMINISTRATORS, TEACHERS AND STUDENTS TO WORK COLLECTIVELY
IN ATTAINING THE GOAL OF DECREASING THE DROPOUT RATE.
