The Coronavirus 19 pandemic has brought a lot of challenges for all
the people around the world. It became an alarming situation giving
insecurity especially to people’s health, world economy, and
sustainability. It disrupted almost every aspect in our society that has
caused distress to many of all ages. Education did not escape.
In view of the pandemic, everyone in this world suffers; from the
government, teachers, parents, and up to the students. This research
study sought to find out the challenges and experiences that cause
difficulties to the senior high school students due to COVID-19
pandemic.
Background of the study
1. What are the lived experiences
among senior high school students
during the new normal learning
delivery?
2. How do the students handle the
situation?
3. How do they find learning in
the new normal modality?

used to select students of Senior
High School in Digos City.

Research Setting/ Participants

This research study sought to find out the challenges
and experiences that cause difficulties to the senior
high school students due to COVID-19 pandemic.
This aims to have a deeper discussion about the
reasons behind these difficulties and how were the
students able to overcome those. This also aims to
know what could possibly be the solution to dissolve
or mitigate these difficulties.

Purpose of the Study

The sampling design used for this
study is purposive sampling. The
availability and willingness were also
considered in purposeful sampling, the
ability to communicate experiences and
opinions about the said study (Palinkas,
Horwitz, Green, Wisdom, Duan, and
Hoagwood, 2016). There were 15
participants that have been chosen for
this study.
Theoretical Sampling
•Interviews with open-ended
questions which includes asking
questions to the participants
communicating through Facebook
Messenger
•Thematic analysis where the data
is being reduced, information
display, and patterned.
Research Instruments/Data Analysis
This study used online in-depth
interviews through online messenger and
observed the verbal communication and it
follows the following procedure:
• Permission to Conduct.
• Interview.
• Transcription of Data.

Data Gathering
The subjective research ought to
appear reliability in giving exact
data to approach substantial and
solid results.
•Credibility
•Transferability
•Confirmability
Rigors of the study
• The researchers signed confidentiality agreement
with the informants through email. This assures
the participants that critical information that was
gathered was kept confidential and will never
step out from the boundary of the purpose of the
research study. The informants were asked for
approval to present their real names. The
researchers approached the informants formally
with regards to appointments, personal
information and time in cooperating for the
success of the study.

Ethical Consideration
There are five themes that emerged in
the first problem:
• Time management
• Learning Difficulties
• Stressful Situations
• Problems in communicating with the teachers
and classmates
• Internet Connectivity

• In the light of the findings of the study,
the following are the derived
conclusions:
• 1. The lived experiences of students in
the new normal classroom modalities are
time management, learning difficulties,
stressful situations, and problems in
communicating with teachers and
classmates, and internet connectivity.

Conclusions

• 2. The students handled the situations by

seeking assistance from others, browsing
the internet (Google), praying hard for
God's wisdom and comfort, avoiding
negativities and embracing good vibes,
self-motivating, and resting when
necessary.
Conclusions
• 3. The students find learning in the new
normal modality as not effective, very
challenging, motivate cheating among
learners, teach independence,
discouraging due to difficult situations,
and internet dependent.

Conclusions
Amidst the COVID19 pandemic, the students fight for their goals and
dreams. In today’s learning system, the students were having a hard time to
continue their studies because of the drastic changes they have encountered
with the new normal modality. The idea of having back the conventional
learning would help regain the quality of education; however, it might also
put the lives of many at risk. This strategic way to continue studying is
helpful enough for student’s dreams not to be taken away from them. The
need of mental health support must also be put into priority since students
struggle with different situations. Teachers, family, and friends play an
important role of support for the students as they continue their educational
journey. There are a lot of hindrances and challenges but the willingness to
