C1.1. MARCH: “One Cool Guy”


Ready for Advanced
STEP 1

Read title and get students to reckon what the text may be about and
deal with.

STEP 2

Shuffle card paragraphs from the text and hand them out to students
one by one in pairs. Get students to read each paragraph and organise
the structure of the text.

STEP 3

Shuffle card questions with their options and do the same process as
with the paragraphs. Get students to read out their questions and get
them to decide whether they refer to General or Specific Info. Then, read
options per questions focusing on what is to be located within the text
and get them to decide the answers.

STEP 4

Get students to provide feedback over the job or hobby of being an


adventurer in extreme conditions as how they would feel, react and do
when undergoing it.

C1.1. FEBRUARY: “Office Politics”
Ready for Advanced

STEP 1

Introduce the topic of “Office Politics” and get feedback from the
students over the topic as the kind of issues people may experience at
work.

STEP 2

Shuffle card extracts A-D and hand them out one by one in pairs. Get
students to read them and check sentences prior and after gaps from the
text’s paragraphs.

STEP 3

Students in pairs decide over which option links in between gaps being
aware that one will be incorrect and is a distractor.

STEP 4

Get students to add ideas over the approach taken and what they would
do.

C1.2. MAY: “Motherhood’s Best-kept Secret”

STEP 1

Read title and introduce topic to students, get feedback over their
opinion about the diffculties as moral dilemas motherhood brings along.

STEP 2

Shuffle card paragraphs from the text and hand them out to students
one by one in pairs. Get students to read each paragraph and organise
the structure of the text.

STEP 3

Shuffle card extracts A-G and hand them out one by one in pairs. Get
students to read them and discuss over what each option states.

STEP 4

Get students to link extracts to the gaps in between paragraphs making


them aware that one is a distractor and is incorrect.

STEP 5

Teacher ckecks and corrects explainig why one connects or not in


between each gap. Round-up over the topic and whether the students
agree or disagree over the quoted issues and if so or not, why or what
they would add or change based upon their own criteria and experience.

C1.1. APRIL: “Climbing Margherita”


Ready for Advanced
STEP 1

Introduce the topic of Going To Places and read the title of the text.Get
feedback from students over how they would prepare for such journey
what they would enjo or not from such experience.

STEP 2

Shuffle card extracts A-D and hand them out to students in order to be
read.

STEP 3

Shuffle card strip questions 1-10 and do as with the extracts. Analyse
questions as get students to decide whether they refer to general or
specific info. Write questions on board and get students to share their
paragraphs and decide where each question’s answer is located.

STEP 4

Teacher corrects and explains why one goes with one extract or another.
Round-up over the topic over how climbing may be as an enjoyable
activity based on the extracts and the acquired knowledge as whether
they would dare to challenge themselves into doing likewise.

C1.2. OCTOBER: “Changing Countries”

STEP 1

Introduce the topic and discuss over the cultural impact it may bring to
them as the clash conveyed.

STEP 2

Shuffle card paragraphs from the text and hand them out to students
one by one in pairs. Get students to read each paragraph ignoring the
gaps and organise the structure of the text. Discuss and reason over the
posible words that could be allocated within each gap.

STEP 3

Shuffle card strip-options 0-10 and do as with the paragraphs. Students


read options A-D from each number and discuss the likely options that
correctly adapt to each gap.

STEP 4

Teacher explains, corrects and reasons alongwith the students on why


the incorrect options do not fit as why the correct one does.

STEP 5

Round up over the topic as how they would experience and react in a
similar situation.

C1.2. OCTOBER: “Rewarding Children”

STEP 1

Introduce the topic and discuss over what is in their opinion as


knowledge the best way for rewarding a child.

STEP 2

Shuffle card paragraphs from the text and hand them out to students
one by one in pairs. Get students to read each paragraph ignoring the
gaps and organise the structure of the text. Discuss and reason over the
posible words that could be allocated within each gap.

STEP 3

Write on the board the Stem Words 1-8 and get them to now thin once
seeing them what Word ought to be needed and how to form it.

STEP 4

Students decide in pairs and as a group on the words and discuss the
suffixes as prefixes required. Teacher explains and reasons alongwith the
stdents as reinforces their comprehension so as to Word formation.

STEP 5

Round up over the topic as whether they agree or disagree with the text.

STEP 1

Introduce the situations and discuss over how to react in each case.

STEP 2

Shuffle options 1-6 and hand them out to students one by one in pairs.
Get students to read each Original Statement and discuss the grammar
or vocabulary being tested.

STEP 3

Students read words in bold as the gapped sentences. Students decide


and workout in pairs and then in group over the correct structure
required. Teacher writes on board the sentences without the structure
and gets students to write on the board their option/s.

STEP 4

Teacher explains, corrects and reasons alongwith the students on why


the incorrect options do not fit as why the correct one/s do.

STEP 5

Round up over what they would do in each case or the most likely
outcome from each.

STEP 5

In pairs students write a paragraph on the board starting with the

In pairs students write a paragraph on the board starting with the


“Introduction” and get feedback from others as correct and discuss
