Your exam script will not be marked if this is not completed.
I have not copied the work of others and handed it in as my own. I have also not made my
work available to any fellow students to submit as their own.
1. Upload your answer scripts in a single PDF file on the module site. Answer scripts
must not be password protected or uploaded as “read-only” files.

2. NO e-mailed scripts will be accepted.
3. Preview your submissions (answer scripts) to ensure legibility and that you have
uploaded the correct answer script file.
4. Incorrect file format scripts and uncollated answer scripts will not be considered.
5. Incorrect answer scripts and/or submissions will not be marked and no opportunity
will be granted for resubmission.
6. A mark awarded for an incomplete submission will be your final mark. No
opportunity for resubmission will be granted.
9. You must complete the online declaration of your work when submitting.
10. Plagiarism is a violation of academic integrity, and students who plagiarise or copy
verbatim from published work will be in violation of the Policy on Academic Integrity
and the Student Disciplinary Code and may be referred to a disciplinary hearing. Unisa
has zero tolerance for plagiarism and/or any other forms of academic dishonesty.
11. Non-adherence to the processes for uploading your script will not qualify you for
any special concessions or future assessments.
12. Queries that are beyond Unisa’s control include the following:
a. personal network or service provider issues
b. load shedding/limited space on personal computer
c. crashed computer
d. unlicensed software (e.g. licence expires during the uploading processes)

1.1 CAPS states that the reading instruction involves working through elements of
the reading process. This is a three-phase activity which models independent
reading strategies for decoding and understanding a text.
Discuss and illustrate with examples how each of the three reading phases
assists the learner in getting the deep meaning of a text. (15)
1.2 Explain the following types of reading and discuss their importance in additional
language teaching:

2.1 In literature, stories are about people. We learn how people behave under
different conditions, how they interact with other people and what types of
personalities they have. This means that we need to get to know the characters
in a story well.
2.1.1 Discuss four (4) ways in which you would teach character analysis in
your Grade 10 class. Give examples from any literature book that you
have read. (8)
2.1.2 Name and explain any other two (2) aspects that are relevant in the
analysis of literary texts. (4)
2.1.3 Explain how you would teach one aspect mentioned in 2.1.2 to Grade 10
learners. (3)

3.1 Describe group work activities that you would use when teaching degree of
comparison to Grade 10 language learners. (10)
3.2 Plan a critical language awareness (CLA) lesson for your Grade 12 language
classroom. The lesson must cover the following aspects: name of school,
grade, class, date, duration, lesson objectives, teacher and learner activities,
teaching aids and assessment. (10)
