PRESENT CONTINOUS

• The present continuous is used to describe actions that are taking place right now, that is, the moment you are speaking. It can also be used to talk about the
future, as explained in this other article. For now, let's focus on the present.
• How is it formed?
• With the verb to be in the present simple (am, is, are) plus the main verb in gerund (ending in –ing).
• Affirmative
• Subject + am | is | are + verb ending in -ing
• I am learning English. I'm learning English.
• You are learning German. You're learning German.
• She is learning Spanish. She’s learning Spanish.
• Negative
• Subject + am not | isn't | aren't + verb ending in -ing
• Note that we can also collapse the verb to be with the subject and simply add not behind, as you can see in the examples below.
• I am not learning English. I'm not learning English.
• We are not learning German.
• We aren't learning German. | We're not learning German.
• He is not learning Spanish.
• He isn't learning Spanish | He's not learning Spanish.
• Interrogative
• Am | is | are + subject + verb ending in -ing
• To ask questions, all you have to do is reverse the order of the subject and the verb to be.
• Am I am learning English? Yes, you are.
• Are they learning German? No, they aren't.
• Is it working? Yes, it is.
Past simple ( was and were)

• Verb to be in the past tends to pass in English for its synthetic characteristics, the verb to be has two specific forms in the past tense:
• I was
• were
•  In English all this is expressed in a single form: I was. We use was with I, he, she and it. And were for you, we and they.
• Was / were is the past simple form of the verb “to
• be ”(to be / to be).

•  To make the negative, add not only after
• was, were and you can do contraction wasn´t, weren´t.
• Examples:
•  My best friend was not (wasn´t) at school last week.
•  (my best friend was not at school the week
•  pass).
•  You were not (weren´t) responsible when you were in high school.
•  (You weren't responsible when you were in high school.)
• (interrogative)
•  To ask questions with was / were (interrogative form)
• you just have to reverse the order of the verb with the subject. What if
