Wage
By: Keith Dela Fuente
What is Minimum Wage?

● “ The amount of remuneration that an employer is

required to pay wage earners for the work performed
during a given period, which cannot be reduced by
collective agreement or an individual contract ”
● It applies to all types of employment or workers may it
be regular, casual, short-term apprentices, or trainees,
regardless of job profile
International Labor Organization
● It is a United Nations agency tasked with
promoting social and economic fairness by
establishing international labor standards
● It is the UN's first and oldest specialized agency,
having been established in October 1919 under
the League of Nations.
● The Philippines joined the International Labour
Organization (ILO) in 1948, shortly after gaining
independence.

MISSION VISION
The ILO's core goals are to promote workers' rights,
promote adequate employment opportunities, improve
social protection, and foster dialogue on work-related
issues.
Minimum Wage

● The Department of Labor and Employment

(DOLE) and its affiliate agency, the National
Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC),
are the agencies in charge of enforcing the labor
code in the Philippines.
● The term "daily pay" may not apply to all
jobs. A precise duty schedule of 8 hours is not
always possible for such tasks.

Can people live on minimum wage?
● The minimum wage is simply meant to get by, and it's
very impossible to make ends meet on it alone.
● Employees' purchasing power is considerably
reduced as a result of low wages and rising inflation.
● According to the Philippine Statistics Authority
(PSA), a daily income of at least P390 is required to
cover the basic needs of a household of five.
● The presence of Regional Tripartite Wages and
Productivity Boards (RTWPBs) and its practice of
establishing various minimum wages in metros and
provinces is seen as unreasonable by many.
