Setting Up 2 PC’s

I have set up 2 initial Computer’s that I have connected with VGA cable from
the monitor to the Computer through VGA to make sure that I get a display to
the monitor and If I don’t get connection or signal then I would make sure I
have connected the Computer to the monitor directly at the back of the PC to
provide me a stable display. I have connected the Power from the PC into a
extension that have plugs on the extension where all the power cables are
being connected. I have connected all the hardware such as the Switch to the
2 PC’s together potentially to gain access to the Internet for the task in the
specification and brief stated. It was a option that I could use a multimedia
device such as a printer or a switch is the equation because in the brief stated
I can use a hardware component so I connected a switch to connect to both of
the Computers. I have connected Ethernet cables to the switch to both of the
Computers at the back of the PC’s ethernet ports allocated on the PC’s so I
can gain access to the internet and if it isn’t connected to the Internet. I had to
make sure that the internet symbol at the bottom of the page what it needs to
be white and that is a indication that the internet is connection that is almost
my decision and my justification of myself being satisfied that it is connected.
Wired connection- Ethernet/Troubleshooting

I have connected 2 ethernet cables that I have connected one of the ethernet
cable from the back of the Computer to the switch directly to grant me access to
the Internet. I have connected the hardware such as the following Switch also
known as the HUB in the equation to connect to the PC however I inserted a
separate ethernet cable to the socket that provided me a internet connection to
the internet. The reason why I have used a wired connection such as ethernet is
because that I needed access to add Microsoft accounts that was compluaray in
regards of the unit brief. I have tested if the ethernet connection was established
and the network connection was successfully tested. The alternative solution was
that if the network doesn't come up I would change the ethernet cables wires in
order to make sure that the connection was was absolutely working and the way I
would recognises that it has connected to the Internet. In the screenshot that is
provided that evidence shown the failure of the network not connecting so
troubleshooting did occur and therefore It is my responsibility to make sure that
the ethernet connection is showing up as connected to the internet.
Creating 3 Account, Administration and 2 Local Accounts

I can create a Microsoft account. I have added 2 local Microsoft named as the
following ‘Jeff21 and Dave’ and I have added a It administration account named as
the following ‘Kevin 2.0’. I have went into settings and created a local account
named as ‘Dave’ by going in settings in account and I pressed ‘add someone else
to the PC’ and I have created the ‘Dave’ account by creating the local account in
‘change account type to local’. I have done the same for the second local account
such as ‘Jef21’ by creating the account by pressing ‘add someone else on the PC’
in setting and then in account and by creating the local account also I pressed
‘change account type’ where I had changed the account type to a local account as
the same account as the ‘Dave’ account. I have created a new account of the IT
administration named ‘Kevin 2.0’ the reason why I have done that is because I
wanted to change the account type to administrator. Where that account will be
very useful and beneficial because the administrator account is potentially is going
to give the access rights of creating 5 folders and creating 7 files. Where I had the
access permission to do which was amazing because then I more rights so when I
share the files is would be much easier and efficient.
Creating 5 files for the process for sharing 7 files

I have created 5 folders these folders are named as the following

such as user 1, user 2, user 3 user 4, user 5. The reason why I
created 5 folders is because it was related to the assignment brief
also so I can insert a file in all of these folders individually that is
also in relation of the assignment brief. I have created these files
so I could implement access permissions later on in the practical
so I also input script documents. I have created 5 folders with
names is because it is more readable also it is easy to navigate
through to allocate which folder. Where I have the access to find
each folder with the correct files implemented with such as what
documentation has been added with in this case is the new rich
text document and new text document. I renamed the folders for
the identification and so that it is easy to identity the folders with
the folders to view the scripts of files within the folder.
Script and text document

I have inserted in the user 1 folder I have added a script such as the ‘new rich text
document and the ‘new text document’ the reason why I have added these 2
scripts is because it is in the relation of the assignment brief where I had to insert
files with in each individual file. In the user 1 folder I have inserted these two
scripts because I had to share 7 files with in 5 folders and to do that is by inserting
2 text scripts in the user 1 folder. In folder 2 I have inserted the same text
documents such as ‘new rich text document and ‘new text document’ to fulfills the
assignment brief requirements . In the user 3 folder I have used the script such as
‘new text text document’ which potentially fulfils my purpose for this matter
because I have inserted 1 file within its folder of the fact my goal is to trying to get
7 files within 5 folders therefore I added one file in the file. In folder 4 I have
inserted one document such as ‘new rich text document’ because its only one file
because by the end there will be 7 files split within 5 folders to make 7 total files in
each folder. In folder 5 I have inserted a script document such as ‘new rich text
document’ because it meets the requirements of the brief specification also for this
important matter my initial aims was to get 7 files with 5 folder. The total amount of
files with 5 folders are 7 files and that fulfils its purpose and functionality of the
brief and my ideal goal and outcome.
Applying File Permissions

I have granted file permissions for the following account named as ‘Dave’ where I have
granted file permission such as read access where the user of that account can only
read and view that file which is reasonable. Fair enough it's only a local account where
it doesn’t need advanced file permissions such as full control permissions like the IT
administrator e.g. read/write access and permissions. I have minimized the level of
access that ‘Dave and Jef 21’ is getting which is only read only access because they
aren't going to create files and folders they just going to view the file of the document
that's all that’s why I never granted high level permissions for the level of access that
the local accounts are getting. I have granted Kevin 2.0 account of a IT administrator
account to have full control can do anything that they want such as edit files, share files
and folders across the internet etc: Full control of gaining in file permission is so useful
because you are transmit and transfer data and information across the web by
sending through the software Gmail or Email via internet. Sending data and information
across the web first of all you need a Internet access also then carefully grant file
permissions to others when doing collaborative working or sharing a file over the
internet. That person can be a potential hacker and not showing his true identification
that is a thing to be aware of when transferring data across the web.
Troubleshooting

First of all I have approached and encountered a fault in regards of trouble shooting. Fuse missing in the power
cable implying that the person in my group encountered a fuse missing therefore I had to take the responsibility
of allocating and finding the missing fuse that wasn’t applied for power in the PC for set up. I usually set up all the
hardware such as PC, connected the monitor to PC through VGA and lastly connected all PC’s with ethernet
cables because I know how to connect the setup whilst this occurrence with the troubleshooting issue with the
missing power I was trying to connect all three PC’s with ethernet cables and trouble shooting them to see if
they’re all connected to the internet. Someone is the Computer class experienced a black screen- button that
was damaged and potentially broken on the monitor. In my perspective I would immediately change the monitor
by correctly choosing the right monitor with the correct and working capabilities and useability with great
functionality. A class member in the Computer class PC kept on resetting-flat CMOS battery so the student
carefully removed and the PC rebooted perfectly and the trouble shooting was a good success. I find out that
trouble shooting is almost problem solving find what works and how it would work I have personally experienced
during the practical that there was no physical connection between from the Switch to my PC directly however
the alternative solution was to replace the ethernet cable due of the concern of a fault wire. After replacing the
ethernet faulty wire with a new wire that is working perfectly functional. I fed the ethernet wire from directly from
the Switch to the socket allocated near where you apply extensions for connecting the power to PC’s there is port
allocated on the wall where I could potentially connect the ethernet from the wall to the Switch.
Troubleshooting

This alternative solution was a success because getting a stable connection from directly allocated on the wall
was already connected so when I fed the ethernet wire from the wall to the Switch which will automatically be
connected with no issue or problem. This was something great because when I am creating a network
troubleshooting occur so when it happens again I am well prepared and know how to approach that particular
scenario and occurrence. Lastly the last troubleshooting occurrence happened was when I couldn’t connect to
other Computers the ping failed which I was determined to figure out and try to understand where it was going
wrong and potentially failing this was a issue however I was still working out how to ping both computer of the
group I was in. If a problem or issue occurred I would resolve the scenario by finding out the a different way or
alternatively a different solution in relation of checking the power is working. I would make sure that power supply
is giving power to the PC. I have checked that the ethernet cables have granted me access to the internet
through the wall rather than than ethernet cables to switch directly. I will be checking that the VGA is working fine
and providing the display from the monitor to the PC and on first try it worked. Setting up the printer was fine I
didn’t come across any issues or major problems when setting up the printer by connecting its power and
ethernet cable in the printer it went perfect.
Changed the administrator account and resetting the password with security
questions

I changed the previous administrator account that previously

named ‘Kevin’ now changed to Kevin 2.0 because one of the
user in my class forgot the password to the account so we had
to create a brand new account. I have created the account such
as ‘Kevin 2.0’ by making a new account by inputting data in the
security questions in creating a brand new microsoft account.
There was like 3 security questions illustrating What was your
first pet's name? I said ‘Kevin’ What’s the name of the city
where you were born? I said ‘Bradford’ What’s your childhood
nickname? I inputted ‘Kevin’ on the input drive such as a
keyboard. The reason why I made sure that the security
question was simple but hard for someone else to answer and
try to get in the account so that’s why the strong password helps
security.
 Performance- recommending
I highly recommend a 1 gigabyte switch to be able to handle high bandwidth at high constant internet
speeds for setting up the network LAN in order to send 5 folders and 7 files. I would improve the
performance by acquiring a 24 port 1 gigabit switch for connecting hardware such as the 3
computers to the switch through ethernet cable to create the network LAN. I would connect the
hardware such as the printer to the one gigabit switch to create a high speed connection to establish
a greater connection when connecting all the hardware together to have the ability to share files and
folders to other computers. I needed a high performance switch such as this perfect example which
would be better than the switch I used of the hardware to create the network. The switch would help
and support the high bandwidth connections/speeds by sharing resources with the users that I have
granted file permissions to has potentially authorised access to the three users. I would improve the
performance by producing more frequent megabits to improve the upload and download speeds. The
high performance switch would be great because it would allow more data and information being
transferred/transmitted across the internet therefore the 1 gigabit switch that would be the best
advantage in sharing resources on the network with large amounts of data and information being
transferred via internet.
Performance-reliability
The one gigabit switch is reliable because if the switch I am using at college has less ethernet
ports then this one gigabit 24 port switch would be in great effect in regards of connecting many
ethernet ports on the switch and it would improve functionality. The switch is reliable because I
can connect 3 computers or many computers on the switch that will initially will be providing me
access to the internet with more ethernet ports to form the network LAN. The performance of
high speeds connections would be fast and beneficial because when transferring large amounts
of data such as files and folders across the network I will need a high speed switch to help
improve efficiency. The switch would help improve the productivity and speeds up the process
much more effectively and excellently. The performance would be improve the user
requirements and needs for creating the phenomenal network by establishing a much greater
network with high speeds fats connections. The switch would help by improving the effective
communication between computers by pinging all three computers on a high bandwidth. The
switch helps communicate between computers to establish a consistent communication that is
fluent and with no issues or problems when you're using a one gigabit 24 port switch.
Connecting all of the 3 PC’s with ethernet port directly to the switch by getting
Internet connection on the wall.
The second week when documenting the evidence. I connected the all 3
computers together which was incredibly fun because I love connecting PC’s
together I really enjoyed it because it was so interesting to learn because gain
more and more knowledge in networking is my pure pattion.
I have connected all 3 Monitors together through VGA to the back of the
computers that gave me a stable display from the monitors to the PC’s well of my
PC and the other two Computers was experiencing issues with its display so I
gave a VGA to replace that issue and I have resolved the issue. I have
connected all 3 Ethernet Cables from the PC directly to the switch that method of
connection wasn't enough so I had to connect a separate ethernet cable from the
wall to the switch and that resolved the issue of not getting a internet connection
so that was part of troubleshooting. I have connected the hardware such as the
switch for the connection that granted me access to the internet. Which was
useful in forming a network LAN through the use of wired connection such as
ethernet connection which was a wired connection that worked after the trouble
shooting occurrence. I have got 2 separate extensions needed to connect to all
3 PC’s power supply on the extension however I had to connect the second
extension to have extra sockets to insert more plugs so 2 extensions was pretty
much good for the set up I can say proudly. I connected 3 VGA cables from
each individual monitor to the PC’s because my aims was to make sure that
there was display from the PC’s to the Monitor’s.
Scanning Browser/firewall I ran the avast's software by running the software through the
firewall to get a great and excellent scan in return to get the
best scan as the result have been shown in the screen shots of
evidence that I have taken. Two screenshots that I have taken
from my mobile phone captured ‘securing your browser’ and
‘preparing smart scan’ in relation of scanning through the fire
wall. The scans that I have done seem to be a successful and
It has came up with 100% which was a great sign because that
what I was looking for to get a fantastic scan of success
running through the firewall on the software. By the end 4-5 full
completed scans I can proudly say that my scans through the
firewall was a great success. I really enjoyed running the
scans of the avast’s software because the the layout and
accessibility of running the scans was functional and I didn't
came across a problem or issue is doing the scans. I also
ran a scan through the browser and that came up with a
greater result by the end which was amazing because I
wanted that to be great result by the end.
Pinging 2 Computers using Command prompt

The reason why I was pinging both computers of their IP address

because that is how the computers are going to communicate
between computers and by establishing a internet connection. The
IT administrator such as ‘Kevin’ will be sharing files 5 folders and 7
files between users across the Internet through the College’s WIFI
through the use of pinging. Where the process occurred where the
data and information will send the files and folders in reaction of
the brief specification. I pinged my computer through the class
member’s computer though my IP address and I collected their IP
address and connected their IP address by inputting ‘IP config’ in
the command prompt.I told the other class member to input the
same command in the command prompt to connect to my IP
address together and same for the last PC of the last class
member to connect to the person next to her to input ‘IP config’ in
the command prompt to connect her’s IP address.
Complex Computer Network
I have connected the output device such as a printer
through power from the printer into a the extension
provided in the process of setting up the network. I
connected the ethernet cable from the printer to the
switch directly so that the printer recognises a internet
connection to be able to print out work. I have done sure
that the power and ethernet connection is provided by
allows printing for its functionality to be working perfectly
without any issues or problem occurring. I did not get
any issues or major problems of connecting the printer
on the extension of its power. I didn’t get any problems
during the process of connecting the ethernet
connection from the printer to the switch it was all
working fine and brilliantly just how the way I wanted.
