What is HR Inventory ?

● Human Resource Inventory, also known as the skills


inventory comprehensively lists down the basic information
on all the employees, like their education, experience, skills,
age, sex, salary related data, job preference and special
achievements.
● It is a vital tool used in HR  planning and policy making

Human resource inventory is the information or record about skills
inventory of human resources currently employed in the
organization. It provides information about personal skill what they
can do and what they are lacking
● The basic premise of maintaining a current skills inventory is to
identify if there are gaps between the current level of skills and
relevant knowledge possessed by the employees and Knowledge,
skills and abilities (KSAs) needed to meet future business goals

● Name, age, marital status of employee.
●  Formal academic qualification of employee.
●  Informal training and workshop undertaken by employee.
●  Specialized skills of the employees.
●  Experience from previous employment.
●  Current position held.
●  Capabilities of the employee.
●  Job and location preferences.
●  Salary level and benefits receiving.
●  Performance rating of the employee, etc.

HR Inventory Process
● To decide who should form a part of it ,generally its prepared for Executives and
some person from the operative staff

● To collect information about them – age ,education, attitude etc and it has to be
recorded

● A summary statement is then prepared for consultation

● Appraise the talent catalog – the present and future capabilities of person are
assessed

● Remarks are also given about the talent , decision making ability etc

● Thus with Manpower inventory will enable to know the present and future
potentialities of all individuals and their suitability for various jobs 5
