CASE SUMMARY

Shift in insurance industry in Canada

ABS - one of the largest player of the insurance industry.
 Strategic acquisition
 Consolidation -To maintain leaders
Quite a lot of redundancies
Opportunity - Possible synergies
Q.1. What are the project’s main characteristics and challenges
identified by Jean Roberge?
Characteristics Of the Project

IMSP technological software solution was decided to be used to provide an integrated

management system and procedures for ABS Canada, it includes financial management, HR
management, and sales and marketing management.

System maintenance and architecture can be simplified while management costs are
reduced and human resources and IT capabilities are better used.

Reduced operational costs which was estimated to be 10% lower in two years after
adoption.

Aside from the typical operational considerations, focus on strategic and tactical aspects.
Create a process design that is both efficient and standardized. Taking advantage of the
web's potential and maximizing IT's total potential.
CHALLENGES OF THE PROJECT
To collect data from all three firms and then to create an organised project
plan.

To assemble a team of people capable of working together and increasing

productivity.

To find a project leader who possesses the attributes that will enable ABS
to boost its efficiency and effectively guide its team members.

Roberge is also concerned about the money, therefore he's seeking for a
leader who can complete the work on schedule while keeping the budget in
check.

Lots of technical support required.Effective and well targeted training is

required for the users.
Problem
Human consideration: Resistance to change can be a formidable roadblock.

Lack of back up plan: In case of failure in any of the implementation steps, we

must have a backup plan to rely on.

Absence of consultant: An ERP consultant or specialist helps manage and

implement Enterprise Resource Planning
Solution to the problems

Employees from multiple levels of the company must be consulted

and involved in the change.

Regional consideration must be taken to consideration.

We must have a backup plan to lay on.
Considerations if budget is overrun.
