the completion of our two weeks inplant training in
R.K.Tools & Gauges in Lucknow.

was a great experience to gain knowledge one could
acquire about designing in a short span of two
weeks. The practical knowledge that we gained
during this period helped us to improve our
knowledge and will be cherished by us throughout
our career.

INTRODUCTION TO COMPANY

Organizations Profile:
R.K.Tools & Gauges is an engineering place, one point of
source for quick mould & Die manufacturers.
Established in 1998 by Mr. AJAY MISRA . It is iso 9001-
2000 certified. The company has absorbed and developed
technologies based on indian cost levels. The company has in-
house design centre, tool room, production house , quality and
system assemblies has capabilities to build and develop and
supply mould of clamping tonnage upto 3000 tons.
It has contributed many years to engineering and plastic
industry that have created new vistas for a world class
industry. The company manufacturers mould, & Die with
quality and precision.
Technical Aspects:
The organization is equipped with the most sophisticated
machinery and latest technologies. It is on par with the most
recent developments for future progress. Latest cnc machines
are operated through cam packages and designs are done in
cad. It manufacturers all kind of injection mould as per the
customers demand. Organisation enjoys wholehearted support,
confidence and work dedicated skilled technicians and
engineers to deliver high pricision quality mould on time.
Quality approach:
We believe that our survival depends on our quality. Quality
consciousness starts right from the design to despatch level.
Various process of inspection and tests are conducted to
ensure that the finished mould is absolute perfection work is
done to the level of zero defect.
Introduction To Design Department
The design department is the most important department of the
company. This department also plays very important role in company’s
development. All the raw material for the mould manufacturing is
ordered as per the bill of material which is released by the design
department.
The mould as well The department handles all the work from
quotation to all the designing and detailing of the mould designed as
per the data received from the customer. The process starting from
quotation, when the customer send the data for quotation the quoter
studies the data and then quotes accordingly. The quote is calculated
depending upon the type of mould, material required for making
mould, hours needed for manufacturing the mould and also total
number of turning parts are taken into consideration. Then the size of
the plate and time taken to manufacture the same is added up with the
size of the turning parts and their manufacturing time. The total quote
is then sent to the customer, it the given quotation is acceptable to the
customer, the customer send the final data along with the purchase
order as the product design is released by these department.
Experience in the Company
On our first day we had a brief introduction of the company, its
working and about its process and all its plants. We had a tour of the
company and our two weeks were spent in design department and
toolroom department. Also we visited the processing unit where we got
to explore about the working of the sidecore actuation and also got to
know hoe insert moulding is done. During our toolroom tour we got to
learn lots of things of which we were theoretically sparsely known of. We
learnt the importance of blue matching and how important it is in mould
matching also we got to see the assembly of split mould and side-core
moulds. Also we got to know how designing is related with the
manufacturing of the mould and its quality and how all the aspects are
interrelated with each other. We also got to known how an portable co-
ordinate measuring machine(cmm) works in actual what are the color
coding and what the particular color indicates and it contributes in
maintaining the mould quality. Also we got to experience how the hot
runner manifold assembly takes lace and what all considerations should
be kept in mind during the designing of the hot runner mould for easy
assembly and manufacturing and also about details of how the manifold
works.
Design of Mould
During our two weeks training we worked on a simple two plate
mould of two impression adjustable key. Firstly before working
on it the whole reference concept of the mould designed for
that product was given to us followed by which the whole
mould and the idea behind the design was made us understand
and then studying from the reference mould given to us we
again made the mould for the same product. The whole design
was explained in detail before starting the mould designing and
also the concept and all the specifications were made clear.
Once our all the doubts were cleared we started studying the
component.The product is as shown below:

Conclusion
 During our project schedule we gained exposure to the proper
industrial environment and learnt to tune ourself to it. Throughout our
project schedule, which was very active and always engrossed with the
work assigned to us. We came to know about how to handle the project
and how to overcome the problems occurring during the project. We
got the knowledge of how the actual designing of the mould takes
place, taking proper decision when problem occurs etc. We also learnt
how to co-ordinate with the customers and manufacturers during the
designing of the mould.
 It also gave us the practical knowledge of which we were only
theoretically familiar with.
 Hereby we are concluding our report by thanking all the supervisors
and our incharge to guide us and provide us help whenever required.
 Thus we have successively completed our project DEVELOPMENT
AND DESIGNING OF SHOCK-UP CAP AND ITS MOULD
