Physical Fitness and it’s Components

Physical fitness refers to the ability of your body
systems to work together efficiently to allow you to
be healthy and perform activities of daily living.
Being efficient means doing daily activities with the
least effort possible.
Physical Fitness Components
1. Cardiovascular Endurance
or cardiorespiratory
endurance – is the ability of
your heart , lungs , including
vessels to provide oxygen to
the body tissues.
Ex. Walking , jogging , Bicycling , and
jump rope.
2. Muscular Endurance – the
ability of a muscle to resist force in
a single contraction over a period
of time.
Ex. Rope climbing , step machine , running ,
push up and swimming
3. Muscular Strength – the capacity of a group of
muscles to resist force in a repeated motion in an
extended time.
Ex. Lifting weights , hill walking , cycling , squat , and
bench press.
4. Flexibility – the ability of the
muscle ,bones and joints to
extend beyond the normal
range of motion.
Ex. Stretching , Standing quad
stretch , sit and reach.
5. Body Composition- it is the
relative percentage of body
muscles , bones , fats and other
impeding tissues.
Ex. Squat jump , push ups , pull-
ups ,Plank.
