Students ….

7
Class Room Activity-2 (CRA-2)

• These problems broadly fall in two categories:

– Threats to survival of life on earth
– Threats to human happiness and peace
• What are the possible causes of these techno
genic maladies?
• Does technology have the solution for these
problems or something else is required to have a
check on these?

8
Class Room Activity-2 (CRA-2)

• Technology can be defined as the efficient way of

doing the things which are valuable.
• Does technology provide any basis to decide,
‘what is valuable?’
• If we keenly look into the possible causes of
techno-genic maladies, it can be found out that the
lack of this competence to decide, ‘what is
valuable’, is the root cause of most of these
problems.
9
Class Room Activity-2 (CRA-2)

• Therefore, Technical education without

knowledge of human values can cause more
problems than solutions.
• Value education makes one competent enough to
decide on his own right, ‘what is valuable?’
• What measures are being taken now a days to
resolve these problems or to minimize the effect
of these problems?
• In order to resolve these problems, are we trying
to ensure proper value education for everyone? 10
Class Room Activity-2 (CRA-2)

• Most of the prevailing measures to keep a check

on these problems are based on fear, temptation or
sanctions.
• These solutions can not be sustainable. They may
be able to temporarily restrain a person.
• In fact, these measures makes a person more
resistant to improvement and a bigger threat to
society.

11
Class Room Activity-2 (CRA-2)

• Only the solutions based on right understanding

and value based living can be sustainable.
• Therefore, value education is essential, which will
compliment technical education in order to ensure
the right utilization of technology.
