FUNCTION OF HRM / SCOPE OF HRM
The Functions of HRM Can be Classified into two major types.
They are
1. MANAGERIAL FUNCTION
a) Planning
b) Organising
c) Directing
d) Controlling
2. OPERATIVE FUNCTION
a) Procurement
b) Development
c) Compensation
d) Integration
e) Maintenance

1. MANAGERIAL FUNCTION
a) Planning
Planning is predetermined course of action. In HRM Planning involve with following
activities
1) Deciding Personnel Goals
2) Formulate Policies and Programmes
3) Prepare Human Resource Budget

1. MANAGERIAL FUNCTION
b) Organising
To implement the plan, well organisation structure involves. Organising deals with
following activities in HRM Function such as
c) Directing
Directing Means Guiding , Motivating, and Supervising the Employees.
d) Controlling
Controlling means Checking, Verifying and ensuring everything occurs with our planned activities.
In Controlling process HRM involves in following activities such as :
A) PROCUREMENT
Procurement means employing the individuals with suitable knowledge, skills, experience to
perform various jobs.
Example
1) As a HR Manager if u want to create mobile application or Website for your organisation, you
must employ the skill of the candidate who has computer Programme language skills
2) If u want to prepare financial budget, you must employ the skill of the candidate who has
financial knowledge

2. OPERATIVE FUNCTION
PROCUREMENT
Procurement has Following some Functions such as
a) Job Analysis : The Job Analysis is a systematic process of gathering complete information about the
job duties and responsibilities required to perform a specific job. Job analysis includes Job Description
and Job Specification
a) Job Description shows that what are jobs available in our organisation
b) Job Specification shows that what skills are need to finish the job

It is the process of identifying the current and future human resource of an organisation to achieve

It means searching the suitable candidate and stimulate them to apply the job

It is the process of developing managerial talents through appropriate programmes

III) COMPENSATION
Employee gets his benefits for his contribution of his performance to attain the organisation
objectives.
a) Job Evaluation
It is the process of determine the related worth of the job
b) Wage and Salary administration
It is a financial compensation to an employee for his performance It should be fair and equal
according the worth of the job and performance of employees
c) Bonus : It is a kind of financial motivational factor to the employee, it is paid under the rules and
regulation of Payment of Bonus Act, 1954.

It is the process of matching the employee goals with attainment of organisational goals.
